Steps to make it work on Steam Play:
-Install mscorefonts (on arch its from AUR, package called ttf-ms-fonts)
-Create gta_dxvk.conf file with the contents:
dxgi.customDeviceId = E366
dxgi.customVendorId = 1002
-Set a steam Launch Option that points to the file:
DXVK_CONFIG_FILE=/path/to/gta_dxvk.conf %command%
running on proton 3.7-5 beta

where you got stuck? Social club Launcher didnt show info? or hang after logging in there. If it was the first then you missed mscorefonts, if latter, then that conf file should do the trick

Social club shows fonts fine. Then launching the game had no luck after that and social club launcher says it fails to launch, and if I want to launch in safe mode etc

I added config file but it stucks at loading story mode or crashes before I get there. No luck.

probably having a different issue then if you are really sure your configuration file was in correct path. Might want to check this issue report: github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/37#issuecomment-415833819

The point of proton is to not have to install extra stuff to make it work, so I hope valve will do per game fixes

great info mr xpander69, eventually i got to register my account, it hangs tho ;( after the intro sequence then a frozen loading icon on the social club, i will wait for it to stop then prolly reboot. but thanks for getting me this far u r a legend

with nvidia you need to fake the gpu identification, check video description. Otherwise it hangs because of nvapi.dll implementation on vanilla wine is broken and proton doesnt use wine-staging afaik.

oh. i didnt quite get that faking was the customDeviceId lol, spent a while trying out loads of suggestions but what did it for me was the PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1, much love

How do you find Steam Play's performance in comparison to your Vulcan + Wine setup you did for your previous video? Did you have to tinker with it a bunch?

performance is same(similar), havent compared side by side though. Not much tinkering, check the video description what was needed for it to make it work

GTA Online dont work. The Message is err gfx d3d init. Single Player works fine.

No, you have to buy the game on steam and then just play it.

yes you can. you can install epic games store with the help of lutris or you can download the heroic games launcher for your distro and use that for all the epic games stuff. but those methods are community made, so they might not work as flawlessly as with steam stuff

I can't even manage to run steam on my discrete GPU on Arch, how's it possible that you get to run GTA V? 😂🤯

steam-native or steam-runtime? 32bit libs (GPU drivers)installed? What does the log say when you start from terminal?

@@xpander69 oh, thanks for answering :) . Steam-Native works actually, but segfaults with games that are known to run and works on my Intel chip (Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy for instance). Here is my log file when launching steam: pastebin.com/fZFkNzp4 . I get the error message “glXChooseVisual failed”. I reckon I do have all required 32bits libs installed, yet I have never found an exhaustive list so I'm not 100% sure. At least I have the most obvious ones (lib32-virtualgl, lib32-nvidia-utils, lib32-primus, lib32-mesa, lib32-glu, and alot of others). I think it's bumblebee/primus related since it works with my Intel Card, it's just veeeery slow. With some tricks I managed to compute the graphics on my discrete GPU using flatpak (proving that it can actually work with primus), but unfortunately, I don't succeed in actually displaying it on my screen when it comes from flatpak. That's useless basically. Maybe this can be of help at some point, but I can't replicate at the moment: github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/869#issuecomment-445010460 .

NVM, I finally got it working using nvidia-xrun. That's huge! It works way better than on Windows OMG. Linux Gaming is finally something apparently 🤔
