Hearing British people who eat beans on toast say "that looks unappealing" is hilarious. Literally no one wants to eat British food. Also we call it Sweet Tea..not just Tea. Biscuits with butter and jam, or biscuits with honey/or hot honey (honey with chilies in it) are amazing. Biscuits and sausage gravy is a must have at least once in your life I'd imagine. Chicken tenderson biscuits is a good breakfast and pretty popular.

Fried Chicken and biscuits go so well together that an American company made crackers flavored like chicken and biscuits. They're called "Chicken in a Bisket". Sausage gravy is nothing more than a bechamel sauce made with the sausage fat, bacon grease, butter or any combination of those and with cooked, loose and crumbled sage sausage. It is also good poured over hash browns or country style fried potatoes as part of a breakfast that would include the biscuits (and gravy), 2-3 eggs and bacon, ham or sausage. Another option for a fried chicken dip besides honey and ranch is a creamy chicken gravy, again, a bechamel sauce with half milk, half chicken broth or all milk with chicken bullion added. Or you can serve fried chicken on waffles with honey or syrup.

I get such a kick out of British saying the biscuits and gravy don't look appetizing, yet you guys think beans on toast do? LOL I think once you try them, you don't look at them as disgusting but the yummy treat they are, just like you see beans on toast as the yummy! It is all about perspective or point of reference. As for making tea, I know a LOT of people just take a ton of tea bags, place it in an enormous jar filled with water, and put it out in the sun to steep in the heat.....they call it sun tea. I think the Brits get hung up on the "cold" aspect of it, but honestly when it is 100-115 degrees F outside with a 50% humidity, you WANT to drink something cold, not hot.

A couple of things about Ice Tea, first off the sugar must be added while the tea is still hot in order for it to dissolve in the tea, rather than just sink to the bottom. Second thing there are various types of tea blends used for iced tea, one of the more common ones is an Orange Pekoe black tea blend (as you may know Orange Pekoe is a grade, not a flavor of black tea), a reasonable substitution for making ice tea there might be English Breakfast tea, though that is a somewhat different blend of black teas.

There’s multiple ways to make iced tea. My dad drinks gallons of iced tea a week so he has an iced tea maker and yes you use tea bags (tea bags were invented here after all). You make a really strong tea brew and add your sweetener or fruit or herbs when it’s hot and then put it directly into a pitcher of ice so the more concentrated tea balances out as the ice melts. There’s also sun tea where you put your tea bags and whatever else you want for flavor and put it in a sealed jar for a few days and then you have your iced tea just serve in cups of ice. There’s other options, too, I recommend you find some recipes and try it. Might be less refreshing right now but it’s great on a hot day- especially mixed with American lemonade (not fizzy made with either fresh lemons or you can get lemonade drink powders to make with water). But you can make iced tea with earl grey or any of your favorite hot teas and we do often add zest or rind to the brew to boost the citrus flavor.

I agree with ya assessment of sun tea. With normal tea bags or green tea works super ! Dunno why allowing the tea bags to react to sunlight over hours does such a good job, but it truly does. As a resident of Florida I drink ice tea by the gallons due to our climate. A big ole mug of sweet tea on a hot humid day is perfect to quench one's thirst.
@deborahdanhauer8525Ай бұрын
This is the way I was taught to make iced tea. You need a tea pot and a gallon sized pitcher for this. Fill the tea pot half full with water and bring to a boil. Take off heat and steep 6 tea bags for 15 minutes. Pour into pitcher and add 1/2 cup of sugar. Fill the pitcher with water and put in fridge. Cut a lemon into wedges and pull the leaves off of some mint sprigs. Muddle a wedge of lemon and 2 mint leaves in the bottom of a tall glass. Fill with ice. Then fill with tea. Enjoy!! 🤗❤️🐝
@hardtackbeans9790Ай бұрын
Iced tea is typically made in concentrate at my house. Unsweetened. Orange Pekoe teabags in a measuring cup. Then once that has brewed, bring glasses with iced water & pour in a small amount of the brewed tea.
@KTKacerАй бұрын
Generally, how we "brew" iced tea is we take a gallon glass wide-mouth jar, dump in 12-18 teabags, put a lid on it, set it outside in the sun to "brew", by noon (from 7am start) - you have tea, add ice - you're good for the day. (this is just iced tea in the central-North, in the south they make it terribly sweet too). We might sweeten it a bit (or a lot, depending) but less so, I believe than down south.
@darrell9546Ай бұрын
If you're used to biscuits and gravy, it won't look gross, it'll look "ooh, biscuits and gravy! Yum!" That gravy looks quite thick, though. As for the tea--It can be brewed with tea bags, of course; it's sometimes brewed as a big jug of sun tea instead of with boiling water. Just put the tea bags in the jug, fill it with water and put the lid on, then set the jug where it will catch the sun all day. Makes great tea, you just need lots of sun. 😉

I like hot and iced tea.. My favorite is sun tea, basically the same as normal tea. You fill a clear glass pitcher (with a lid to keep bugs and debris out) with water and several tea bags then leave it outside in the sun all day then dump in some sugar and ice.

Ice tea is brewed just like hot tea using black tea, usually in a special blend made for iced tea. The bags are larger than standard tea bags and each bag makes a full 30 ounces or 950ml. SOUTHERN Tea is SWEET! Loaded with sugar it is beyond sweet. (I live in the southern United States) We call it tea and unsweet tea is Yankee Tea.
@Charlee1776Ай бұрын
It's quite easy to make Sweet Tea, Just take about 6 black tea bags per 1 gallon of water, you'll want to add about 1 1/3 cup (or a bit more if you like) of sugar. Steep your water and make tea with the tea bags, remove tea bags, add sugar, refrigerate.. serve cold over ice and TADA! ETA: My husband and I prefer ours made a little bit stronger (8 bags) and we add a bit of fresh lemon juice when pouring sometimes.
@pop9095Ай бұрын
The best Iced Tea you make by setting the pitcher with the tea bags in, in a windowsill with line of sight to the sun. Sun tea that you then ice and garnish as you like or not. American breakfast style biscuits vary a fair bit but are generally buttery and both dense and flaky when done well. Much akin in some places to a croissant, less fussy. Everyone can make this, the recipe is very simply.

Then we also have Turkey Gravy (light brown), Beef Gravy (dark brown, often used for Mashed Potatoes as well), Red Eye Gravy and probably at least another 5 types of Gravies I still haven't tried. As for how biscuits came about, I believe it was a mistake trying to make scones and the person I have heard did it, added way too much butter to the dough. Instead of ruining it, it made it soft, flaky and delicious. At least that is the story I have heard. It might be an urban legend, or it might be true. I don't know. Just a story I grew up hearing.

For a single glass of tea, all you do is heat your water and dunk tea bags in it. Since the tea is steaming, fill your glass with ice to top and pour over it. May need to leave some room to add more ice afterwards. Then a good amount of sugar and stir until dissolved. I have to have some fresh lemon in mine. That's the basic method.

The gravy made here is far too thick. These people tend to make with not quite enough flour and milk. There should be a good bit more gravy relative to the meat chunks. It actually "looks" pretty darn good in the presence of it. Iced tea IS made with tea bags 3 double bags, in a pot of 1 quart or so of water. Bring to a boil and let steep for a few minutes. After somewhat cooled down but not cold, pour tea concentrate minus the tea bags into a 1/2 gallon pitcher, fill to the top with fresh water and 1 cup of sugar per half gallon. Stir well until all of the sugar is completerly dissolved. Refrigerate over night and serve over plenty of ice...NOT 1 or 2 cubes. Glass should be at least half or more full of ice. For a real treat a splash of lemon juice or better yet ORANGE juice into the pitcher before serving is amazing. Enjoy.

American biscuits are unique. I'm not sure exactly why. It might be the baking powder flavor in them. But if you want to try one in England, I would strongly suggest you buy the dough the first time, so that you're guaranteed to know the proper flavor. I checked. I think these videos may have caused a run on the available biscuit dough. But there is dry biscuit mix you just add milk to. I have a feeling once the desire for biscuits is recognized by businesses, they'll be much more available.
