Same here for rain noise, bet you can't hear me either from there! ⛈ 8 LED's is quite impressive. It's a worthy circuit to fix up and saying the solar panel still works.

@Slider2732_ Thanks. It is really the wrong time of year for solar power, but it does charge enough for a few seconds of light 💡😅

@@GrandadIsAnOldMan It's odd here at the moment. 20C is great, but full cloud cover or rain. It sort of doesn't make sense to be so warm but with no Sun. Temps will dive this week, making it more normal!

Good set of lights. It looked like a 555 chip on the board. Looks like the solar panel is working well. That contact cleaner is good stuff. I have a tin of it but watch out for the fumes. It is very like carb cleaner. I don't know if it is much the same. The carb cleaner is also a solvent. Might work as a contact cleaner also. I hope that storm didn't affect you much. Looked bad on the TV. We were lucky as most of it passed over quickly. 👌👍👍

Hi Mike, it is windier today than it was yesterday, but nothing to get excited about 😁😁👍👍 The chip is a bespoke solar light chip, Y1861. I found the data sheet. Quote - (Chinglish) - YX861A is a high-efficiency, two-function (often Bright/flashing) solar energy string boost control chip.

Just wondering if it would be worth salvaging any of the old LEDs to get some of the other colors since they all work at the same voltage. ... And, if you can, send some of that rain our way - it's time we got a good snow 😉

The legs on those LEDs are rusty. It really isn't worth the effort of trying to go through them all and try to salvage any that might last long enough to be useful. I have a big box full of old LED string lights and I am trying to downsize my junk, not add to it 🤣🤣
