On this particular day, Nene was furious with Annie for being so persistent.
Neither of them was hurt, and the two calmed down afterwards with Shabani interceding.

Annie never forgot her grandmother Nene attacking her when she was a baby. Nene had a hard time believing Annie was Ai's baby. Shabani is definitely a good father & a good troop leader. This family deserves better food & more snacks.

I can somewhat relate to Annie’s feelings. Some of the details are different, but I and my 8 siblings were raised by a mother and father who were neglectful and unemotional. We weren’t physically abused, but verbal abuse was common. You don’t forget your childhood when you grow up; it stays with you. While I was not abusive towards my parents as an adult, I found myself to be very apathetic towards them because of their behavior when we were children.

I do feel so bad for Nene. She is older and just wants some piece. That being said … she attacked Annie numerous times when she was small and couldn’t defend herself. That was so hard to see as Annie just wanted to be included. Thank goodness Shabani did his best to protect Annie.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was going to comment, and you said it. I totally agree! Imo. I don't think NeNe ever really received Annie, from the point where Annie was united with the troop as a baby. The attacks fron NeNe were constant. I always thought she was jealous of Annie, and I still think that is the case.

Tbh, I think Annie wants to interact with her and that's the only way she can, as Nene doesn't except it any other way. Now sometimes she does tease her a little by tapping her, but she never hits her badly. I do think most of the time she just wants to play interact with her like she does with the rest of the family. Annie is by no means an aggressive gorilla.

I have a special love for Annie the most, I absolutely adore the girl. But I also am very fond of Nene. I understand what she did to Annie as a baby was horrendous and I'm sure Annie remembers those times like it was yesterday. On one hand, I don't blame Annie but on the other, Nene's practically a senior and hasn't really instigated any violence towards Annie for a long time. (Nene is just always on alert when Annie's around.) I wish that someday these two will form a bond like Ai and Annie have but at this point, I'm not so sure it'll ever happen. It's just truly a shame they both can't form any positive relationship that can stick. Their personalities are pretty similar, which could add to the conflict maybe? (I'm not an expert on gorilla behavior though, these are mostly just my own observations and perhaps I'm anthropomorphizing things too much.) Was that Shabani's voice 8:21 - 8:22?

Thank you for your comments. I feel that Annie's provocative behavior toward Nene has become less frequent than it was about 6 months ago, so I do not think it is likely to get any worse at this point. It is very rare, but when Nene is in a good mood? Sometimes she eats breakfast with Annie when she is in a good mood 😊 I also hope that they will be able to build a good relationship. I think the voice at 8:21 is probably Shabani's.

Nene non da fastidio a nessuno, anzi fa del tutto per evitare scontri con Annie,che bellina quando ha preso quel bastoncino e chissà cosa credeva di trovare😊, guarda Annie e capisce le sue intenzioni si allontana , e di nuovo Annie le sta dietro e di nuovo si allontana,ma alla fine reagisce con uno scatto, forse voleva mordere Annie ma per sua fortuna non li ha. Annie is Ai's daughter and Nene's grand daughter. Her mother rejected her, maybe because having the younger child is a dominance advantage for females and her mother strictly and rigidly dominates her to this day. When she was introduced to the troop after being hand reared for a year, her grand mother immediately attacked her. Her mother never protected her and never would, her father accepted and protected her. And he had to do so for years. So she would love to drive her evil ancient grand mother from the troop. Nene has had her life artificially extended by 20+, years by the zoo to the severe determent of the troop. Now she has sex with her her son and tries to establish her sons dominance over her husband. And she has her daughter obediently assisting her.

Animals have great instinct, , maybe Nene sensed something about Annie from the beginning…we can’t know that without speaking gorilla with Nene. Hopefully they come to terms with having to live together. Maybe they should have removed Annie as a baby if Nene was truly trying to kill her. That seems kind of irresponsible that they didn’t.
