I enjoyed the story and, as a pipe smoker, enjoyed it even more thanks to not just the tobacco reference but the reference to a specific brand (one I enjoy several blends from) and a smidgen of the brand's history and correct history at that. Kudos Mr. Gordon.

As a new listener, I prefer your old intro, the one with the piano and typewriter. It sets my mood right for a spooky tale before bed. The Waren is dead is a nice bit or narration, but considering you will be narrating for anywhere between 20 mins to 6 hours, the variation is nice, dispite your lovely voice. Just a thought. 🙂

Fourteen: Escape and rescue then were both equally impossible or so it seemed to Randolph Carter. But there was still the gas Carter mused. He could extinguish the flame and inbreath deeply of that fatal vapor until it brought him release; much sooner and one far less excruciating than the slow and lingering death of thirst and starvation that now faced him and yet as utterly hopeless as Carter's circumstances were his robust New England upbringing resisted the thought of suicide.

Gentlemen, no one enjoys pedantry, but since these stories are so much enhanced by accurate detail, I must point out the inaccuracy of speaking of ‘Edwardian’ furniture in the 19th century. Edward ascended the throne in 1901!!!

This is true! That said, there are a number of antique dealers here in the UK who classify furniture from the 1890s as Edwardian.
