Grandma's Favorite Bind Off (Loose Bind Off)

A loose knitted bind off perfect for neck edges, scarves, afghans, or any round or curved edge. Leaves a crochet-like edge that makes for easy seaming.

@drswitz My answer depends on what pattern the neckline is knit. For an all knit neckline I would use the sewn bind off and for a rib neckline I would use Grandma's Favorite. I have never heard of the Italian bind off either!

which bind off method is better for a neckline knitted in round, sewn bind off or grandma's favorite?? The pattern calls for Italian bind off but instructions were unclear to me and could not find any video on it. Thank you!

@GWolfKyla I am not taking the first two stitches off of the needle but am holding the working yarn in the front or purl position. Not knowing the length of your tail, makes it hard to answer but this cast off uses a slight amount more of yarn. You may want to try the Bind Off in Pattern video to match your rib edge. Good luck!

@nlcurrie Did you wrap the yarn counterclockwise? It should be looser than the standard bind off. If you need stretchy, try my video on the Sewn Bind Off.
