I completely understand the gloomy winter feeling. I live in Kansas and I have always thought of winter as a three month black and white movie.The past few days have actually been a blessing here though, because it’s been sunny and in the 50’s. A stark contrast to the sub zero temperatures during the snow storm we experienced three weeks ago. So I am enjoying the sun while I can.

Hello from Michigan! January was just sh….y! February is looking better today the sun is out. I love where I live but I do want snow in winter. There is nothing so beautiful as sunlight or moonlight on snow. I’m 75 and try to keep busy on the dark days. I live in sunny Arizona, and I really miss an occasionally rainy day! lol I’ve also had a knee and hip replacement, both shoulders replaced and multiple back surgeries. I can definitely attest to every place that I’ve had bone surgery letting me know the minute it starts getting cold.
@GrandmaLivesInTheBasementАй бұрын
Hello😊 I don’t know anyone that has had shoulder replacement… how long is the recovery for that? Have you always lived in Arizona?
@rneustel388Ай бұрын
The type of shoulder replacement I have had on both shoulders is called a reverse replacement. That’s because the ball and socket is switched, or reversed. They place a ball where the socket normally is and a socket where the ball is. If you look up a reverse shoulder replacement it explains it far better than I can. This type is done if there’s not sufficient rotator cuff in addition to the arthritis. If a ‘normal’ replacement is done, you wouldn’t be able to lift the arm, but by reversing the ball and socket, you can use muscles in the arm to provide the lift. Recovery is about the same as for a knee replacement with a lot of physical therapy involved. Well, let’s see…since we got married in 1989, we’ve lived in Louisiana, Missouri, Germany, Michigan (Battle Creek), Texas, Pennsylvania and Arizona. My husband worked civil service for the Army in a position where we had to relocate every 2-4 years, and he also had to deploy when necessary. When he retired, we moved to Arizona, because he said he was sick of dealing with humidity! lol

Hello Grandma & family!!!😊. I've been subscribed and watching your videos for several months now. I lost my Dad in September of 2022. I've been helping my mother since then, and we have discussed moving and moving in together along with my husband & son. I found your channel because I went looking for videos with full finished basements. We live in northeast Georgia, and the weather is not that great from November to March. I was born and bred here! Lol😊. My mother was born here too but was raised in Detroit, Michigan, until her senior year when her parents moved her back to Georgia. My mother will be 76 in August, and I will turn 51 in May. Ever since my Dad's death, I have been thinking of the future and having my things in order as well including my mother's. It's made me anxious and sad at times. These colder, depressing months seem to affect lots of people. I think it's called seasonal effective disorder. That's why i keep up my Christmas decorations and lights till March. Lol. It helps my mood and makes me happy. My mother sometimes watches your videos with me and she gets a piece of her past life through listening to your Michigan accent. I enjoy your videos!! Have a blessed day!!😊❤ From Winder, Georgia Joy Carey❤

The heart stent will hopefully help him feel better, and is not major surgery. my husband who just turned 85 had a heart stent last year in January when he was 84. His artery was blocked 100%; they had to bring in an interventional cardiologist to put in the stent. The cardiologist actually told him that his age was to his advantage. Had he been in his 40s he probably would’ve not survived the 100% blockage. The person who is 79 is most likely going to have an easy time of it. I pray, and hope that he does.

When I moved in with my mother she would always come up with these things: when I die remember to do this When I die remember to do that. Finally I said Get a notebook write it down She got a notebook It has one notation in it. On the first page. I can't remember what it says. I was going through some of her stuff somewhere. Maybe in the strong box. And she had this whole pre-printed booklet of Things To Remember When I Die. It was like something that was published and then you just fill it in in the appropriate places. Actually I have seen them on Amazon. But she had it the whole time that she's telling me remember this remember that. And by the way, that one didn't have anything in it either. Back when I was younger and I wanted to tell my mother something and I forgot She would say Well I guess it wasn't that important. I guess all those things she had to tell me weren't so important either. Don't mind me, I'm just angry. It's ridiculous because she died in 2004. And I am pretty much incapable of even writing about it without crying. Oh and before I got here she would tell my brother all these things that he had to remember to do and He wouldn't even listen to her. I can understand. But people - write it down! They make guide books for this now. If you can see, and you don't have Alzheimer's, please write it down. I have to get out of the basement. Your basement. I was upset about something when I got here and February isn't making me any happier. Wait a minute it's still January. Matter of fact it's my parents anniversary. Yes the space shuttle blew up on my parents anniversary. My brother remembers the space shuttle but he doesn't remember the anniversary. It was 1956. They were married for 42 years and then my father died. And anyone who knew my father knows why I don't mourn him. But there are people who had even worse fathers. He kept a roof over our head, he didn't beat us physically, he didn't do any of the heinous things that some people do to their children. Mostly he just screamed a lot. I'm going to go back to the thing that I was trying to watch before which would not play when it was live. My brother says it's all my fault. It's only my devices it won't play on. Two of them. Maybe it will play now. But first I must check on the ducks

Thanks for that info…I think I will buy something like that for grandma. It would help her with the anxiety and fear that she is forgetting to tell me something. I am sorry for the loss of your mom❤️❤️❤️

What are the perks to being a member
@GrandmaLivesInTheBasement2 ай бұрын
I post members only videos that I share a bit more personal stuff and also early release to members before the rest of the subscribers. I will also be doing members only lives. I only created memberships because I get a lot of nasty trolls and I don’t want to share too much personal life with trolls😞 I figure if someone becomes a member it is because they want to be a part of our life and not troll us.

Stop talking about death and start living. I’m 74 and I try to laugh and I refuse to talk about death and dying!

I believe in a bit of balance, and definitely getting all the paperwork in order. Honoring is fine; dwelling on...drains a person (and the listener.)

Maybe grandma should need tomatoes please say that’s bad on arthritis
