I live in Moscow, Russia. I know master Xiaowang will be coming here in May, but until then the schools that I've researched here don't have any notable masters as far as the Chen style goes, at least from my research (but, of course, I could be wrong) My goal is to understand it as a martial art, since that is what it originally was created as. I'm interested in the spiritual as much as in the physical aspects. I want to understand the philosophy behind every movement.

All right, thanks, I'll check out the videos. By the way, have you heard of master Wan Lin? He's a Chen style master here in Moscow, but I can't really find much info about him online, so I'm a bit reluctant to sign up for his lessons, especially since he's not even the one teaching a lot of times, it's his assistants.. Not that I'm nit-picking, but I know from experience that if bad habits are taught early they are very hard to overcome later..

No offence, but only 20 years might be a little optimistic to get THIS good, considering this guy is a legendary grandmaster, and he's probably still training every day!

So, are you saying that Tai Chi is not something I should start with? I mean, you wouldn't start with PhD normally.. Also, I watched a documentary, where a master in Chen village said that they always teach the Old Frame first.. Finding the balance is exactly why I liked Tai Chi so much in the first place.. Life is about balance, and Tai Chi teaches both the body and the mind to be in harmony.. I haven't done any martial arts before (not seriously, at least) but I'm in decent physical shape

I see, still, very impressive! I admire your ambition. (I meant no disrespect, by the way.) It's just that I've just barely started trying to identify Tai Chi basic concepts, and even just this Form seems unattainable for me! =)

I was looking for a different Lao Jia form while listening to music and found out that Apple Bottom Jeans works well to this set. :)

I understand. But where I live I'm not sure if I can find a good teacher, so I only have these videos for instructions. Thus I'm not sure how much, if anything, I can learn this way.. Not until I go to China

@mark.... Look at his elbows and shoulders, for a grandmaster his body is in pieces... No sinking of his elbows which in return make them stiff.... Looks like no connection, his body isn't moving as one.... Sorry but I say it how I see it....

Hmm, it seems they only do Yang style, and there isn't anyone who specifically teaches Tai Chi, it's like they are all instructors of "internal martial arts" in general =\ I dunno, sounds kinda unreliable to me..

Hi, you are totally correct about 90% of the Tai Chi market out there is bull. I would say 95%.
