The FIDE Grand Prix is taking place from December 11-23 2019. The 16-player knockout is the 4th of four legs of the 22-player Grand Prix series that will determine two places in the 2020 Candidates Tournament. Players compete in 3 of the 4 tournaments, which each have a 130,000 euro prize fund, with 24,000 for 1st place. There are also from 1 (quarterfinal loser) to 8 (winner) Grand Prix points available, plus an additional point for each match win without tiebreaks. The overall series prize fund is 280,000, with 50,000 for 1st place.
Each round consists of two games of classical chess, with a time control of 90 minutes/40 moves + 30 min to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. If the match is tied two 25+10 rapid games are played. If still tied, there are two 10+10 games, then two 5+3. Finally a single Armageddon game is played, where White has 5 minutes to Black’s 4 (with a 2-second increment from move 61) but Black wins the match with a draw. Official website: worldchess.com

Agadmator should commentate a dating show "Hello everyone! Before we get into the game, here's some photos of them together eating at a fancy restaurant. As you can see, the man is dressed properly while the lady poses for the camera. Exciting stuff. Anyway, let's get into the game. The man opens with compliments and a cheesy pick-up line, and the lady responds with a big smile and flirty comments. Nothing crazy at this point. They continue developing their conversation and ordering their food, and of course this is the classical variation that has been played many many times before, it's perfectly normal for both sides to make this move. However, the man goes one step further and asks where the lady lives. So, what's the idea here? Now this is a bold move, if he were playing for a draw, maybe he would have gone for another line such as asking about work or family, but obviously you can tell at this point he's playing for the win here. And it is as of this move, that we have a completely new game. This is an uncomfortable position for the lady, so she changes the topic and closes the position. The man continues with a beautiful fork to pick up his steak while the lady finds a good diagonal to slice her fish. The man wants to maintain his initiative and needs to sacrifice a bit of his pride to stay on the front foot. He realises he's running out of time and he hasn't made enough moves to reach time control yet. He offers a trade of phone numbers, but the lady simply declines. She threatens to leave if the man continues to ask personal questions, and the man realises he has blundered. Now, there is only one move he can make to win the game, and it's really a beautiful move, but it's also an engine move, so you can't expect him to find it under time trouble such as this. Feel free to pause the video and try to find this simply amazing move to perhaps force a draw at least, while I give you some time. If you found it, congratulations, you're an expert at dating and relationships, and if you're just here to enjoy the show, the move is to apologise and offer to pay the bill. This would be completely winning for him. You could try to go for the more passive line of remaining in awkward silence, but this is a forced draw. He can't capture her either, because that would be highly indecent and of course illegal. The man doesn't see the apologising move, and instead goes for the even more aggressive line of offering to go to her place. But obviously you can see why this doesn't work. The lady sees no point in carrying on with this perpetual back and forth. She leaves the place and blocks him on social media, which is always a good prophylactic move. The man sees no way to continue, there is nothing more to do for him, and it at this moment that he decides to resign the game. Ultimately the lady's defence was too strong for him to penetrate and he went for too many complications, and blundered in the process. The man got no compensation and eventually still had to pay the check. Even if he had gone for another move, it is unlikely he would be able to find a draw. After the lady made some nasty discoveries about the man, he had no chance whatsoever. So there you have it. That is the game."

10:41 the point is not that you will lose your queen by Qxf6 since white’s queen is still hanging, the point is if Qxf6, then Bxf6 Rxe7, Bxe7, the h3 knight is trapped and white will be up a rook in the end

at 11:05 instead of Q:d7 which is very pretty, I was looking at B:f6+ which also wins the exchange and also possibly the Knight on h3 as well; e.g. B:f6, Q:f6; Q:d7+, Kh6; Q:h3+ and White is a Rook up

At 10:55 why you need queen sac bishop takes f6 also comes with a check .And if king takes f6 ,rook to f3 pins the queen or if queen takes f6 ,white queen or even rook takes d7 with a check with completely being up the exchange !!! And even at anytime white king is able to capture the knight in these variations .But anyways queen sac sounds awestruck!!!

5:21 i don't know if you missed it or Just didnt mention IT but the rook Came with some tactics. IT allows blacks knight to capture on C3. If Whites bishop captures the knight, then the rook on d1 is attacked by Queen and Rook and loses. So White cant recapture and the pawn is technically undefended. I think that is why White played rook d1 to d3, defending the pawn. Not primarily to double rooks. Ofc its miltipurpose

10:41 taking the knight with the queen loses also but because black loses the rook and the knight for the white knight, or it loses the queen, rook & knight for the white queen & knight.

Yes, but why make your life harder :) Qxf6 is losing because you're down a full rook but if Kxf6 then Rf3 has to be played otherwise black keeps his material or he is winning! After Rf3 Qxf3 Kxf3 White is still up a Queen for Rook and knight which is still technically winning but harder to convert. The game contination is better because white gets two passed pawns and rook for knight which is easy to win. Edit: Ignore me, black has Rd2+ after Rf3 which means black is better or winning therefore Bxf6 is a mistake.

@@sweetpotato_35 After Rxd7, black i think, has forced mate after Qf2+ Yes, because after Kxh3, black plays Qf1+ and he has forced mate by using g pawn and depending on where king goes, both the f5 square and h3 square can deliver forced checkmate. Kh4 is losing after g5+
