What a lovely documentary for want of a better work. Great to hear the passion from these guys and so many true words said. For me and thanks to the advert with the guy painting the hoarding I always got...there are two G's in biggest. As one of the guys said, you always have to check. Emotional.

Greetings from new zealand, Good layout, letter style, colour selection, contrast and readability are not as practised nowadays with anyone who can buy a $250 computer now able to bash out terrible signs that don't last....' crash -bash- grab the cash and dash'. true signpainters had pride in their work and were always self or peer critical in a constructive way which raised the profesionalsim of the industry and aesthetics in a community. Great video , thanks for sharing the interesting legacy of your family of signpainters. Go well and keep up the good work.

My father also do sign paintings from 35 years . Really to write in piece of paper and erasing it is easy but to write on walls and on banners a tough work .

I spent 2 glorious years as a sign-writer after my apprenticeship, then vinyl-lettering shops killed it, I'm glad it's becoming more popular again but one question, why was the chap signing on the outside of a glass shop front? I was taught to sign in reverse on the inside, lasts and looks good much longer.

Hi, do you know anything about Alfred Warner? He was a signwriterand house painter in Dublin 1900-1930 he painted most of the shop signs on Talbot Street and the area, pub ceilings and the like?
