Yo Norm .. at 05:50 that's a rod holder.. I used to use them a lot on piers so I can set and have my line out and not worried about getting it pulled when I hook a big fish

Holy crap. Grandpas a smart man! You know I I know? Cause I’m only 33 and I do the same thing as your grandpa. He probably put new line on those spools and broke the reel and kept the spool so he could either re use the line or bought another reel of the same make and kept the spool so he could keep different line weight on each spool and easily swap for different target species. 💪💪

I have a good collection of old lures which i would never use for fear of loosing them, so I carve replicas out of wood and use them instead. The lure in my avatar is a replica I made of an old lure I used in the 1970s known as a sail shark. Yes I have caught bass on it. One of my favorites to carve is an old Heddon riverrunt. I also carve out rattletraps from wood, I like them because they have a slower rate of sink than a store bought rattletrap. Most of the lures I use these days are my own creations of spinner baits, buzzbaits, in line spinners,crankbaits ect. Love your videos!
