GS Tutorial - GWN7600 Mesh Setup ( starting on firmware 1.0.5.13)
NOTE: MESH SETUP IS NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR THE GWN7610 DURING THE TIME OF MAKING THIS VIDEO. MESH WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE GWN7610 AT THE END OF AUGUST 2018.
Wireless Mesh Network is a wireless extension of the traditional wired network using multiple access points connected through wireless links to areas where wired access is not an option while also expanding the coverage of the WLAN network.
In the traditional WLAN network, the uplink of the AP is a wired network (usually an Ethernet Link):
• The advantages of a wired network are security, anti-interference and stable bandwidth.
• The disadvantages are high construction cost, long period of planning and deployment, and difficulty of change in case a modification is needed.
However, these are precisely the advantages of wireless networks. As a result, Wireless Mesh Network is an effective complement of wired network.
In addition, Mesh networking provides a mechanism for network redundancy. When an abnormality occurs in a wired network, an AP suffering the uplink failure can keep the data service continuity through its Mesh network.

Am I crazy or is the only way to upgrade the firmware locally on these GS APs is to login with the MAC and Password, as a Master, then change the FW address, and update/upgrade. Then when done, unit is back to blue. Factory default/reset, back to purple and done. When updating the FW on the Master it does NOT update the slaves automatically unless I was missing a step. Is it me or is that odd? I see no place in the Master GUI to pass newer FW to the slaves.

72/5000 Supposedly the mesh has to be reconfigured after every power failure and the accesspoint has to be connected every time with a LAN-cable?

Very useful and didactic. Only was pending show in Device Configuration the Uplink info in order to config topology mesh. I have one question the mesh option Is not available from GMW7000 ? Thanks.

Hello Enrique, the GWN7000 is our gigabit router and is not related to creating a mesh network with the GWN APs.

Hi Enrique, The next GWN7000 release 1.0.6.x will support mesh configuration from the web UI controller. We do not have an exact ETA of the release, but most likely the BETA version will be released before the end of August.

Hi. I'm trying to set up mesh feature with 2 AP's (master and slave). When i'm using the POE injector - it all work. But when i use PSU - a SLAVE won't go online/ What do i do wrong? thank u,

It would have been helpful if your video stated this only works on 7600 and 7600LR before I ordered 10 of these for a company 300 miles from my office. When is the firmware going to be released to support mesh on 7610??? Even if it is beta please let me know.

Hello from 2019. We`ve got for testing purposes 2x GWN7610 (firmware 1.0.9.13) and 1x GWN7000 (Firmware 1.0.9.4). GWN7000 was controller, 1x AP as CAP and 1x Ap as RE. It (MESH) didnt worked. Tried to make it work 2 days - no luck PS. I have seen guide: www.grandstream.com/sites/default/files/Resources/GWN76XX_Mesh_Network.pdf it not helpfull
