Absolutely brilliant! And a nice sharp, even exhaust beat (as it should be), and no smoke; proper firing... top marks to the fireman. :-)

Now that’s what we like to see! So glad this has been done, full marks to 6880 group and GWSR Marvellous film, very well done. Cheers and keep up the great work - Alex.

Great to see a Grange again, even if it is a new build! Also loved the sound of a goods train. Traditional sounds now seldom heard that take me back to my childhood.

Brilliant addition to UK preserved steam that filled an important gap in preservation survivors, and will hopefully show what great locos they were. Only need the County finished for a full set of GWR 4-6-0s.

"All GWR engines look the same, its boring" its called standardisation and guess what, it helped build this loco! Plus don't most people drive cars designed around standardisation?
@martinsims12733 күн бұрын
Theyr'e not quite all the same, just similar, and if your'e on to a winning formula, why change it? Plus, standardisation has a lot going for it, it makes parts availability better, (less spares needed), less special tools for maintainence & manufacture, and less training for the workforce, as more parts, & operating & maintainence procedures are the same. The only downer is that you have to abandon standardisation to design & develope anything new.

@martinsims1273 that was kind of my point

They're not all the same, just similar looking, and there's a lot to be said for standardization; better spares availability, less training, tooling & expense in production, maintenance, and running. The only downer is that you have to depart from standardization in order to develope any new designs; standardization is the enemy of progress, but it sure makes everything easier & cheaper to run.

@lonewolf4215 Agreed. Also, it was a travesty that BR didn't give a d-mn about Britain's railway history or heritage, and was determined to just wipe out as many steam loco's as possible (even stuff such as the nearly new "standard" classes, some of which were only 5 years old). A total waste of public (taxpayers) money - who in their right mind would buy a brand new car/motorcycle/lorry/bus etc., then only use it for 5 years before scrapping it? Even when it's in full working order? Total economic lunacy. And apart from that, there was the deliberate, intensional destruction of EVERY member of every class wherever possible, the Grange's being 1 example, and at Crewe, despite the local staff's attempt to save them, the bl--dy minded, deliberate order by BR's management to scrap & obliterate the last 3 remaining ex LNWR express passenger loco's. History trashed, and heritage in the bin. And what has the country gained for it? It was a Godsend that Woodham brothers decided that it was more economical for them to cut up wagons, than the 200 "scrap" steam loco's they had on site (some of which traveled there under their own steam, in full working order, and had their fire's dropped & boilers drained on site. Working loco's- scrap?!!!😅

I've just tried to post a sensible, pertinent reply/comment to your post, in which I objected to BR's policy of wholesale scrapping of Britain's heritage, but in a similar manner somebody at KZbin (who probably wasn't even born when the events referred to happened) has decided to scrap my very pertinent, non-offensive comments, and have deleted everything I wrote. So much for free speech.
