Pro tip from an installer.. always check the prices per sqm of stones, its literally the same stones at every seller but some sellers triple the price per sqm... 2:19 yes this is necessary, otherwise we will having a hard time leveling the stones +it will be better support for the customer, since that is the place where most people put their coffeemachines etc 👍

Beautiful kitchen. What is the name of your granite countertops?
@DIYwithMAX Жыл бұрын
Rodney I appreciate the compliment thank you for subscribing to support the channel. The stone name is PITAYA WHITE 3CM POLISHED SLAB. We wanted to be as close to white as we could get and this stone is it as far as we could tell.

Hi… what is the thickness of this granite?
@DIYwithMAX11 ай бұрын
Around 1.25 inch I believe that is a standard thickness.

So the slab holds itself in place just by the shear weight of it? I thought there was a glue or something.
@DIYwithMAX Жыл бұрын
Jack thank you taking the time to ask a question. It gets siliconed around the perimeter. And the weight of it is enough to hold it in place according to my installers. I was just as surprised as you

@@DIYwithMAX that’s awesome, I never knew that. Thanks for the reply.

In Australia these are now banned due to dangers of silicosis which can arise from workers inhaling the dust when cutting stone slabs to size.
@DIYwithMAX Жыл бұрын
Wow thank you for sharing that. So what materials do you guys have available to you guys.
@AncoraImparoPiper Жыл бұрын
@@DIYwithMAX Until just a few months ago we had granite and all kinds of stone materials but no more because of increasing incidence of silicosis in those who cut it to size. Now we have any material as long as it is not a stone product, whether natural or manufactured. Just be careful you wear a proper fitting dust mask when cutting it, cleaning up and make sure anyone around you is also wearing a dust mask. I guess we are not taking any chances in Australia with it. Just ban it outright so that it presents no danger to anyone at all.

Perhaps we should send some relief aid crates full of respirators.
@AncoraImparoPiper7 ай бұрын
@@theomegawerty9688 I am sorry to say that too many Aussie tradies are too careless to wear one. Since we have universal health care system, we decided that in order to decrease risk on our health care system, it is cheaper to just outlaw stone benchtops, especially engineered stone because of high silicon content. Sometimes, you have to take steps to prevent imbeciles from hurting themselves and others nearby and others from having to carry the cost of lifelong health impact.

That is a great observation. I think we should all encourage IKEA to design one that fits in those tight spaces. But for us it was not a big deal as we have bunch of closets that we can store stuff in.
