The alien in this episode is voiced by Ryūzaburō Ōtomo, which happens to be the same VA of Crocodile. So now we have Luffy wanting to gobble some weenies and Zoro + Crocodile wanting some bananas. This anime is crazy

The Flatwoods Monster is a real Cryptid that’s been sighted a couple times in both America and parts of Japan. Since Cryptids pop back up later in the series I’ll give a brief explanation for anyone confused on what they are. Cryptid is a general term used for unidentified beings, generally on the more “natural” side instead of paranormal. Creatures like Bigfoot, Aliens, Subterraneans Societies, and the Kraken are considered Cryptids while Ghosts, Haunted Objects, Curses, and Demons are not. Japanese Yokai are kinda in the middle, but generally not considered Cryptids. Basically, if it could evolve naturally on either Earth or some alien world, it’s a Cryptid. I think it’s also important to note that many Cryptids are just mysterious animals, with a few actually being proven to exist. The Coelacanth fish, Thylacine, Giant Squid, Platypus and even Gorillas were/are considered Cryptids at one point. So if it eats and is physically in front of you, it’s a Cryptid. If it’s beyond our mortal plane and intangible, it’s Paranormal. Hope this makes some kinda sense 😅 Edit: Also want to add that in Dan Da Dan the Cryptids are more connected to the Alien side vs the Spirit side. The Flatwoods Monster in this episode is working for the aliens featured in the first episode, which is why he asks for their “Banana Organs.”
