Hello form Greece, I had have the same problem (DEYE 5K) with the new JK BMS firmware 15.17, but I have change the JK BMS setting (for the CAN) to PYLON and all seems to work fine now (the Force Charge, disappear) !!!! Very nice videos !!!!!

Hi George, thanks for letting us know... guess I'll have to upgrade the firmware again and give that a try. Did you also notice a new setting appear in the BMS app at the bottom of the control page - DRY ARM Intermittent?

Thank you Grant for your really helpful video's. I have done the downgrade to 15.11 but i have noticed that total soc in parallel is not calculating. I also noticed that when almost fully charged the BMS is not ramping down the charge currant limit. The JBD bms and the Pylontech US3000C was doing this perfectly on the Deye and and also on Victron. I am going to try going back to firmware 15.17 and Pylontech CAN mode to see if it solves this.

Calculating SOC is working again on 15.17 version. I am using Pylontech CAN not Deye CAN with this version.

Hi Erik, I've now also upgraded to 15.17 and am using CAN protocol 002:PYLON on the BMS and all seems to be working, including SOC calculation (When using 001: Deye protocol with 15.17, I was getting a Request Force Charge command which wouldn't allow the battery to discharge... I made a video about this kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIbEeImciaadmcU but I think you have seen this video already). Thanks for your comments.

Hi Grant,do you know if difference spec JK inverter BMS can be used in series? I have a 1amp Ballance 100 amp BMS, and I want to run another JK inverter BMS that is 2amp Ballance 200amp, will this work,or do they all need to be the same including the firmware? Thanks for any help you can offer

Hi Jason, Yes, you can use those different version together. I haven't tested this myself but Andy from Off-grid Garage has and it works. I don't think they need to be the same firmware but firmware earlier than 15.11 seems to be buggy so hopefully yours are 15.11 or later (for hardware version 15 of course).

Big thanks for all the explanations. Just installed 2 batteries in parallel and got all the comunication working. What is the best option to wire the batteries? Since they are in parallel, I connected the inverter to positive terminal on battery no.1 and then the negative terminal on battery no.2. Is it correct?

It’s a pleasure. Best option would be to use a bus bar arrangement to connect batteries in parallel… something like the Victron Lynx Distributor for example (there are also cheaper more DIY options available). Short of using a busbar arrangement, if it’s only two ‘low’ powered batteries (maybe 2 x 5kw/h), I’ve seen a few people installing a DC Fuse block/holder (like this www.apator.com/en/our-solutions/electricity/switchgear/rbk-fuse-switch-disconnectors/rbk-pro/rbk-00-pro#technical-data) and connecting the top to the inverter and the bottom is connected to each of the batteries (each with their own positive and negative wires) - Two positive lugs from the batteries are bolted back-to-back using a 8mm bolt to the fuse holder and the same for the negative wires. Either way, a person should always check with the installer / electrician if it’s part of a house installation, since the installation needs a Certificate of Compliance.

Hi Grant, I have a Solis hybrid 5KW inverter, and I'm using it with 16 EVE 304 cells and a JK inverter BMS with an active balancer. I've been running this setup for the past five months. The JK BMS communicates the state of charge (SOC) to the inverter, but the SOC keeps drifting over time. Here's the issue: even when the BMS indicates a 100% SOC, the voltages drift slightly lower with each cycle. Over the weeks, the SOC gradually drifts, so while it shows 100%, each cell and the overall pack voltage are slightly lower than the previous cycle. If I adjust the battery capacity settings, the BMS resets to 70% SOC, and the inverter charges another 3 or 4 kWh. This SOC drift is frustrating because on cloudy days, my 16 kWh battery effectively only charges to 11 or 12 kWh. The remaining 4 kWh stays uncharged because the BMS incorrectly reports 100% SOC to the inverter. To fully charge the battery, I have to keep changing the capacity settings in the BMS back and forth. Is there a way to use this inverter without CAN communication or by setting it as a generic battery? If anyone else has the same issue or knows a solution, please comment and suggest how to fix this problem. Thanks!

Grant, do you know what PCB trace on the JKbms to cut, to power down the BT option? Andy showed the master code has been hacked. Now everybody can change all parameters. So... i would like to cut the power trace to the BMS and solder a switch on it. Just to keep the settings safe.

Hi, I saw that and unfortunately I do not know which trace it is, I've never taken one of these Inverter BMS's apart. I guess there should be a bluetooth module inside that is somewhat accessible. Maybe Jk will eventually come out with a fix for this.

Good afternoon. I need your advice as a competent specialist.Installed the sun-12K-SG04LP3-EU inverter (3 phases).At startup, it issues an error F30 (does not see the solar panels), the decoding of the error means the failure of the main AC relay.When the city network is disconnected, the error persists.What to do?

Hi, unfortunately I'm no expert and I'm not sure what the problem may be. I'm also not familiar with 3 phase systems. I checked a SunSynk manual and as you say, the F30 fault code is AC_MainContactor_Fault. Did you try ask your installer? or maybe get in contact with SunSynk Support?

Thanks Grant for the great information in your videos. I’d like to know how or if I can parallel six of these BMS’s together? I have six LiFePo4 16s DIY packs. Do all slave BMS’s RS485 master, or RS485 daisy chain slave to slave back to master? Thanks for any info..

Hi Shawn, it's a pleasure. Not sure if you have come right yet? You should be able to parallel 6 together. Master BMS will be connected to the Inverter over CAN, using the CAN port. All slave batteries (BMS's) will be daisy chained to the Master BMS, starting at the RS485 parallel port on the Master and then connecting an ethernet cable to the RS485 parallel port on the first Slave. Then from the RS485 parallel port on the first slave to the RS485 parallel port on the second slave and so on. The RS485 parallel ports are the two ports on the far right end of the comms board that I show at 06:11 Master BMS will be set to address 0, First slave BMS to address 1, second slave BMS to address 2, third slave BMS to address 3 and so on. I've only ever connected two batteries in parallel using the JK Inverter BMS but I'm pretty sure it should work with more batteries as described above.

What voltages do you recommend for 16s 314AH cells pack? Use float mode? And you know what the PCL module is/does?

Hi, I use the float mode setting... I have the RCV Time set to 1 hour and the RFV Time set to 10 hours. The PCL Module is the current limiting module... If disabled, the built-in 10A current limiter won't activate. I use the same voltages as Andy mentions in his videos, and on his website here off-grid-garage.com/my-settings/ just scroll down to the JK Inverter BMS section.

@PhilippeCJR I don’t think it needs to be disabled, unless somebody else has a good reason why they think it’s better to have it disabled… but If I remember reading the JK documentation correctly, it’s purpose it aimed at limiting current flow between batteries banks in parallel.

@@GrantBurton I heard that DEYE has hundreds of programmers for the display interface alone! I wrote Deye that I needed a small change in the grid settings and they changed it after a few days and it was sunday!

Dear Grant. I have some problem about the communication between JKBMS and inverter. Now my BMS firmware is V15.17. I installed 2 battery in parallel. The Device id of first battery is 0(master unit). The Device ID of second battery is 1(slave). When I connect the master unit to inverter(CAN port). the inverter can't communicate with master battery. But If I move the communication cable to slave battery. The inverter can communicate and read any information of slave battery. But the inverter doesn't recognize a master battery. What should I do?

Hi Grant. Thanks for the great video. Unfortunately I am still struggling to get the communication between a JK BMS (PB2A16S20P) and a Sunsynk 16kw inverter with Version 1.11.13. I have checked and I am using CAN protocol 1. DIP switches are set to all off (Address 0). Cable is in the second RJ45 and connects to the CAN port on my inverter. Is there something that needs to be set in the inverter? The JK BMS is on software version V15.10. Hardware version V15.XA. I also tried a second JK BMS as I have two and get the same result. Any thoughts on where to look. Could it be the inverter firmware that requires update?

Hi Leonard, I've only ever tired to use firmware version 15.11 and 15.17 on the BMS and both of them are able to connect and communicate via CAN. Check the user manual for your Inverter to be sure, but according to my manual (10kw Inverter) the CAN protocol on the inverter needs to be set to 0. It's at 02:49 in this video... see the note that pops up on screen. If yours is set to protocol 1, it's likely trying to use the RS485. You could try update the firmware to V15.11 and then set CAN protocol to 001:Deye or 002:Pylon... both of those should work. Are you using the ethernet cable that came with your Inverter? Let us know if you come right.

@@GrantBurton Hi Grant. It is definitely set to CAN and protocol 0 on the inverter. I will try get hold of a RS485 module and update the firmware to V15.11. I did not get a ethernet cable with my inverter. I guess my installer kept it since I was not installing batteries at the time. I assume it is a normal ethernet cable. I did try a second cable and it did not make a difference. Do you know what firmware your inverter is running?

@@leonardfernandez882 A standard ethernet cable should work. My Inverter is running Master MCU version MB026 / Slave MCU version S1726 / Communication MCU version CE439 however it was working also working on an older version MB024/S1726/CE433

Hello, are there any warnings that show in the app? I know if you don't change the default password, it would flash red, and after setting your own password, the red light would go out... maybe its this?

hello , i tested many BMS on deye like seplos, pace , and use JK old model wihout can ( voltage regulation , bms as active safety ) and i am waiting 450 cells and many new model JK , wihout ajustements to jinkong regulate well at top and bottom ? the last i test was paces regulate perfectly at 3.6 higher cell but stop discharge at 80 % SOC !! impossible use like this , Jk say the last model is only compatible with deye 5 K . what was your test ? on witch model ? i am limited in english ,

Hi... I have used the JK Inverter BMS with 105a/h cells for 3 months and it will balance all cells well after each full charge and I don't have to make any adjustments once the BMS is setup correctly... I have the 1A balance current version PB1A16S15P (but with larger capacity cells, you might need the JK Inverter BMS with a 2A Active balancer). On the JK Inverter BMS you can set the voltage that you want to represent 100% SOC (Example - I have mine set at 3.449v/cell) and the voltage that you want to represent 0% SOC (Example - I have mine set at 2.64v/cell). If your Pace BMS is only discharging down to 80%, maybe the Cell Under Voltage protection is set too high? or there is some other limit that the BMS is reaching? I am not familiar with the Pace BMS. Maybe it's your inverter stopping the discharge at 80%? I am using two JK Inverter BMS's in parallel, and connected to a SunSynk 10kw single phase Inverter using CAN communication and it's working well up to now. @@GrantBurton hi , i monted the first of new set of battery , i ajusted like you explain , but the inverter i use is deye 6 k , theinterface if different than the sunsik , when i pug and enter in lithium mode i can see some battrey data like % low and high voltage , but it take in grid to charge battery !!! so i returned on voltage mode like ever , do you know if floating mode can me it limit charge to 10 a ?

​@@nicof9202 Hi, V15.27 seems to be working ok for now but it still seems to have the issue of the SOC not being calculated correctly / consistently when running two BMS's in parallel. Using the older style JK BMS's in parallel, both batteries SOC was pretty well matched as both batteries discharged (within 2% of each other as I recall) however I've noticed with the Inverter BMS connected to the same batteries as before (swapped out the old style BMS for the Inverter BMS), one battery seems to 'discharge' faster than the other... or at least that's according to what the SOC% is showing (the difference in the reported SOC can be up to 10%).

@@GrantBurton no pb for me with 3 packs in //, SOC is now the mean of the 3 packs and charge/ discharge with an initial soc not equals between packs become equals after some time . My only big concern is the alarm report to Deye inverter not working , i simulate lots of alarms and no one go to the inverter , this is really bad. I report this to JK, I also request an upgrade for they use the packs reporting tab to see each pack value on deye screen.

@@GrantBurton great to hear. Since there are radio silence issues....with JK itself i hope its still a good buy. I have 3x luyuan box and 3x 16pcs MB31 in transport. With 3x jk200a bms. Its for my deye 12kw lv hybrid 3phase. It looks like deye protocol to be used in the Jkbms? Looking forward to your new video!

Seems the 001:Deye CAN Protocol is working so far, still has the SOC drift issue though… temperature alarms also not reporting correctly to Inverter but I’ll show more in the testing. I’m also waiting for parts to experiment with push notifications being sent to my phone / HA when an alarm triggers in the BMS but more about this once I’ve done a bit of testing.

Hello from India.. I am facing a peculiar issue .. with my deye. When my SOC is below 20 percent (actual SOC 18%)and I am on full off-grid mode at night without solar and grid. In SOC below 20% if I turn off and turn my inverter. I don't get the output Battery mode selected lithium Restart set at 3% I have tried setting 0% also But no avail. It wont turn on the load until I turn on the grid or change mode to percent mode. Now two things again If I turn on the grid .. the load turns on.. and if I immediately turn off the grid the load still keeps running. Case 2 no grid.. butnif inchange battery mode to percent mode from lithoum.. then the battery percent starts showing as 87% although my SoC in battery is actually 18% .. it starts the load after 3 mins. Now case 3 .. my mode is in lithium and no load But as I pull my comm cable the percentage turns to 87% again and the load starts.. So now conclusion: Deye is below 20%. In no grid no solar .. load doesn't turn on if restarted in no grid and no solar. Means whenever in no grid and no solar deye reads SOC as 20 or below it doesn't turn on. Tried every solution didn't help pls help in case you knowm even deye engineers don't know. Anything above 25 percent the load turns on without grid without solar ( pure backup mode) even if I turn off and turn on.. I get the load output .. only issue is below 20 Jk bms V 15.17

I have two batteries of different capacities, both with jkbms. One 280ah and the other 100ah. BMS has different software 14 and 15. When the main one is with software 15, the second one still has a high voltage error. When the main value is 14, the inverter does not see the correct value

Hi Jerry, I'm not sure exactly what you mean? Have both batteries been fully charged and top balanced? Maybe try to only connect one battery at a time... charge one full and let it top balance. Then disconnect that battery and connect the other battery. Let the other battery fully charge and top balance. This way both batteries should be at the same voltage (or very close). Is the Master BMS connected over CAN? What CAN protocol have you selected in the BMS? What firmware version is on each BMS?

@@jerry76-jc5mg ​You might want to try use CAN Protocol 002 - PYLON - Low-voltage-V1.2 on the master BMS. The latest firmware version for BMS Hardware 14 is v14.20 and the latest firmware version for BMS hardware 15 is v15.17 You might need to update the firmware on both of your BMS units. I have v15.18 on 2 bms and v15.10 on one, so need to update to v15.18 but cannot find it.

Hi Lance, unfortunately I don’t have a Voltronic inverter, only SunSynk… but the connection and communication should be very similar. You’ll need to check the CAN high and low pinout on the Voltronic.
