Nice addition to the line up. I will have to pick up a bottle of this new version.

I just finished putting this product on my ram 3500 crew cab long bed. Day 1 (After work) was wash, decontaminate, re-wash (with your prep soap) and clay bar. Total time about 2+ hours. Day 2 was tape things off (about an hour), polish (new vehicle, but still required), wipe with IPA, then apply this beautiful graphene pro-coat 2.0. Total time was about 6-7 hours (mostly due to the size of the truck - ladder needed for the roof and hood). A lot of work. I think the proof is in the pudding, meaning the effort was only worth it if this coating lasts as advertised. I have paint corrected and sealed vehicles in the past with something less than this product, and they look the same afterward. If this coating lasts, then I will be happy. I went with this product due to other YT videos that reviewed their basic ceramic coating, which help up way better than most. This is supposedly better than their previous coating, so I should be good. Hope this helps.

So, there are no safety precautions to be exercised with this new coating 2.0? I see no gloves, during application, and no mention of proper ventilation on this video or on the product’s desciption at McGee’s 37 website store. Can you please clarify such recommendations, if any?
@McKees372 жыл бұрын
It's always a good idea to wear gloves. If I applied coatings 8 hours a day 5 days a week, I would definitely wear gloves and some type of mask - regardless of the coating or who manufactures it. - Nick

I'd love to get a technical explanation of how these lifespans are determined. I'm 100% sure that they didn't develop this product and apply it to a test panel 10 years ago to find it now failing 10 years later. Without a warranty to hold them accountable either, I imagine it gets really easy to make exciting estimates and promises. Disappointed to see them marketing with claims of 10h on the mohs scale. 10h on the mohs scale? Not the pencil scale? Yeah? It is as hard as a diamond? A diamond? Uh huh. And even if so, what good is microns-thick diamond hardness? What good does that actually do in the real world? I would much rather see them take Carpro's humble, conservative approach to marketing their products instead of going down the same-old PBMG, Chemical Guys, Adams route.

The same reason 18v tools are marketed as 20v even though it’s the same batteries it’s just the bolts under no load lol. Why because it sells and as a business it’s better because most are doing it and is seen as a safe “lie” because the only indicator people have is that a coating is still hydrophobic but they say it’s still on the surface protecting it hence the reason for toppers. It’s that’s true then they should state protect claim and the hydrophobic claim separately.

Great question. That's often why you hear me joke around about why isn't the longevity of X coating 3 years, 8 months, 12 days, 22 hours, 6 minutes and 8 seconds....instead of "3" or "5" or however many years. Longevity is determined by hardness, resistance to abrasion, chemical resistance, etc. This coating is similar in formulation to our 5 year coating, which is conservatively rated and has proven itself in the market. The Pro-Coat 2.0 is substantially beefed up. There's no reason outside of negligence that it won't last 10 years or longer. Like I've said over and over again in tons of videos, sometimes you just have to trust the name on the bottle, and only buy from reputable companies. We are a reputable company. - Nick

@@McKees37 You guys have some gems, no doubt. You also have products that strike me as silly ways of bloating your product line in order to fill shelves (in stores and homes alike) in order to harvest as many sales as possible under the guise of "options." We can, however, disagree on how necessary a graphene glass cleaner is or whether a line-up with various other APC, rubber, and plastic cleaners needs a product specifically for floor mats. Just trust Brand X! ~Brand X isn't a compelling marketing strategy for capturing potential customers who want to understand your products on a deeper level instead of just being sold to. Here you're making a pretty dramatic claim that is a little out of the ordinary among your competitors, and there is nothing holding you accountable to it. In fact, you're far more willing to list reasons why you might not have to stand by your claim that you are to list technical reasons why your claim is solid. It is one thing to say that, just for example your graphe e glass cleaner will both clean glass and make it hydrophobic--that can be purchased for relatively little investment, and you get immediate answers to the question of, "Wil it clean glass and make it hydropbobic?" In the case of this coating, the financial and labor investment is much greater, and there is no way to know within any reasonable test period whether the product will actually deliver on its claims. I'd like to see clear definitions of what it will and will not do as well as a clear definition of what failure is. Then I want a clear definition of what care the manufacturer expects the product to receive in order to achieve the claimed outcome and to avoid failure. If room for error is to be expected, define how much deviation from expected outcomes is still considered acceptable. This isn't a cheap product whose claims can be quickly and inexpensively tested and verified, so I think wanting more than a charismatic sales pitch is reasonable. I give other companies just as much grief. This specific form of pressure comes to you because M37's overall behavior as a brand resembles companies like Chemical Guys and Adams, companies that have earned my dismissal, less than the behavior of companies that have earned and repeatedly reinforced my trust (and I still never take for granted that those companies won't have turds). Want to earn a sale on a coating you're claiming 10 years for? Warranty it. You don't even have to slap a 10-year warranty on it. Hold yourself officially accountable for 5-7 years with reasonable care stipulations, and I'll be sold.

Run away from anyone claiming stuff like "10H hardness or 10 year coatings" Nothing but marketing buzzwords and gimmicks to get people to keep bringing their vehicle back to their shop every year. I'll stick with CarPro, they don't overhype or oversell their products
