Affinity. Used Adobe for more than 13 years. Now im using Affinity for my clients 100%. I only use adobe If I have some work on agencies who need the adobe workflow, but I charge extra to rent the software for the job only.

Around 7:00 : client changes the scope? In consultancy we use a section in our contracts for the specified Scope of Works, and an added clause stating that anything outside the agreed scope is subject to a Variation Order and added fees. Variation Orders meaning essentially drawing up a contract Addendum to be signed by both parties.

What about Inkscape software ?
@Roboto-chan_14023 ай бұрын
Inkscape is great but being FOSS not always stable. I have come to prefer Affinity for its non-destructive workflow, which even gives Adobe a run for its money. But Inkscape has a lot of features like interpolation (object blending in Adobe) that I would love to see in Affinity as a nondestructive filter. And it has vector trace, albeit not perfect. To add, there is stable FOSS out there, Krita and Blender being good examples.

There's only one reason why I keep using Adobe: Lightroom (it's sooo good) I wish Affinity had something similar or at least a DAM software like Bridge. I think Affinity is wonderful but it hasn't managed to threaten Adobe like DaVinci is doing. Also we don't know very well what direction they are going to take after being acquired by Canva; they've been very quiet after the pledge. Adobe as a company sucks: bloated software, notorious for abusing its customers and getting away with everything as they are the industry standard and most educational organizations are reluctanct to explore other options.

Affinity is amazing, it's better than Adobe in many ways, but it can't completely replace it. I still have to use Photoshop for mockups, for example, because most psd mockups don't work perfectly in affinity photo or designer.

I was using adobe since 2009 PS CS3 (2013 AI CS6) until 2021. Its been 3 years with Affinity. Sometimes I miss many features, but I gets the job done in most cases, especially for a freelancer. I am not sure Affinity is a replacement for studios yet.

As a freelancer, I've used Serif's software since the early 2000's, since long before the rebranding to Affinity. It was never a replacement for Adobe for the reason you mentioned. You miss many features. It's interesting that all it took was some clever marketing to get people to start putting Adobe and Serif in the same conversation. If you need Adobe, then you have to use Adobe. Affinity doesn't have nearly the features of Adobe software and not even nearly as polished.

Is hard to work in agencies or even freelance and not use Adobe. If had bought Figma would really be an even bigger monopoly.
@CreeperFace423 ай бұрын
Exactly! This is part of what bugs me about Adobe. It feels like, by setting themselves up as the "industry standard," they lock you into using their stuff whether you want to or not. Adobe Digital Editions is a perfect example, a truly awful piece of software that everyone hates, but is pretty much the only somewhat reputable app that opens a very specific but crucial file type from online ebook libraries. I get they are very good at what they do, or else they wouldn't be the giant they are. It's just hard to enjoy using their products when you often get screwed over in the process (e.g. their privacy policy).
@roguewavecreative3 ай бұрын
@@CreeperFace42so true. I have tried a couple time to move over to Affinity because I love how the three softwares integrate with each other. That said there are just certain things it does and this last time I realized how the fonts ect really make a difference. My hope is they catch up but I do not know if that will ever happen.

Switching to Affinity has been the best decision I've made in recent years. Learning curve is not as steep as you think when coming from the Adobe shit show CC universe.
@KuttyJoe2 ай бұрын
The learning curve is not the issue. It's the features. If you actually need Adobe then you need Adobe. Switching to something without the features is not possible.

I'm seeing all these dislikes and I feel disheartened. I don't know why this video is disliked, so I don't have a concrete 100% thing to say about that, but I have my theory - I believe you wanted to help people by offering Affinity through a sponsored segment at the start of the video, but the lack of disclosure in this video makes it feel dishonest. Sponsors/Affiliate links are absolutely legitimate thing. One problem is that you don't disclose it being a sponsor - making this video a bit deceptive when they realize it's sponsored by Affinity. Do what Linus Tech Tips does - and disclose it properly. Affinity is actually on par with Adobe, and we need options for one-time payments, so this is a great opportunity for those who don't want to subscribe. I'm glad that you have them as a sponsor, but, next time, please do proper disclosure to the audience when doing a sponsored segment or video.

This was not sponsored by anyone. I always disclose when a video is sponsored :) Also, this video has a 99% like rating, so I'm not sure where you're seeing the dislikes? :')
