Nice review, man! I was doubting whether I should buy this, but you've convinced me to order it, so I will do so soon. Moreover, I'd definitely be interested in seeing a video review of the next volume you mentioned towards the end of the video.

Thanks for the tip! Somehow I have never tried out the Nocenti run. Even though Daredevil is an old favorite and I have the Mller, Bendis and Brubaker runs (nearly) complete as single issues. I'm curious! Also today I read the latest DD isse (610) which was quite entertaining I must say.

Oh man you were scaring me with that run up! I loved Nocenti's run on Daredevil so much as a kid and was worried it wouldn't stand up. She blew me away and now I need to pick the bind-up. (it's tie-foid btw) And JRJr's still holds up. Loved his style for this run. Thanks for this!

What an honor to see a comment by the GREAT Poptimist under my vid! I MADE IT! And thanks for the correction. At least I had a slight moment of doubt about my pronunciation being wrong, I'll give me that. And yes, Nocenti's still got it. Her new series "The Seeds" (with art by the fantastic David Aja!) on Karen Berger's imprint at Dark Horse Comics shapes up to be one of the coolest surprises of the year.

Good day, Walt. I'd stopped reading Daredevil after Born Again, which in retrospect was a mistake, because I didn't keep up with Nocenti's run. I've since then collected her entire run in singles and read them. I enjoyed it very much. Matt and his women...my goodness, what a mess. I think Natasha is one of the few to come out unscathed. Tonight I'm finishing up re-reading Brubaker's run. I don't think that guy can write a bad book.

Yes, he's a ladies man! I also kind of get it. I never got it with Batman, but I can see it in Daredevil. He has a Steve McQueen-ish quality. Still haven't read Brubaker's run. Not liking everything he writes, but yes, I really should to check out his DD!

p.s. The 500th Daredevil issue, the final one by Brubaker, has additional stories, including one by Nocenti and Aja, where Daredevil fights Bullseye. If you don't have the comic, it's worth getting.

Good video on this trade. There will always be writers who will never be acknowledged or remembered by the reading audience (Joshua Dysart for Unknown Soldier, Ann Nocenti for her Daredevil run, Christopher Priest for Black Panther and Deathstroke, Peter Milligan for Shade, Skreemer, x-statix, Human Target, The Extremist, Enigma, Terminal Hero (his superhero works are bad), and several others). Additionally your statement about reading your favorite reads from your childhood and then later reflecting that they are pretentious/fake holds truth (Geoff John's Green Lantern, Rick Remender's Secret Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, even Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns, also Tom King's Omega Men ). I hope Nocenti's The Seeds stick the landing though. If there is one thing that I have grown to despise in the comic book reading clubs, it is the fact that readers now search for escapism instead of reading nuanced comic books or getting outside of their reading comfort zone.

Great post. And congrats, you have basically cited most of my favorite runs and favorite writers. Though I'd disagree on Priest. His runs on Black Panther and Deathstroke may not be super-sellers, but are widely known and acknowledged as being seminal.
