I've just soldered completely different memory to old 7600GS (half capacity, but can overclock to higher frequency) and it's shock for me that it normaly booted to windows with no artifacts and I was even able to install drivers, I soldered only 1 of 8 modules, I am just trying what it's gonna do. It's the worst 7600GS (500 MHz DDR1 and no oc is possible) but I have one broken GF6600 where those DDR1 modules were able to go up to 700 MHz and it was a massive performance boost to OC it. These old DDR1 modules have still those oldschool contacts, I don't really want to play with BGA chips, I tried it several times and I mostly damaged it.

good work. would it be possible to use this technique to upgrade a Tesla P40 from 24gb to 48gb. I realize it would have bandwidth issues, but I'd like to load very large models on them, even if they run a bit slower.

tons of videos on internet, and still not find anyone talking about temperature of air station
@iBoardRepair2 жыл бұрын
That would be because it is extremely variable based on your station, air speed, ambient temperature, size of nozzle, and even less obvious things like angle of hot air and aim. It is best to practice on donor boards to see what temps melt the solder yourself. In my case, I set my station to about 460c with pretty high air. But I haven't actually measured the actual output temp so that doesn't really mean much for the next guy.

They are not reversible. They have a specific orientation. There is a dot on the chip and a mark on the board that specifies orientation.

Some you solder wick. I don't use that for this application as I don't think it is necessary here. Yeah, I just 'clean' by flattening with lower melt solder.

@macgyver5108 Жыл бұрын
Are you using _flux_ to melt the old chips off? Liquids conduct heat a helluva lot better than air ETC, so the flux drastically helps speed things up, keeps you from toasting components and cleans the oxides off the connections for a reliable electrical/mechanical bond.
@TEAMCREAM_96 Жыл бұрын
@macgyver5108 yeah i was, i ended up having to heat the board up with a toaster oven. I ended up saving two 2080tis
@macgyver5108 Жыл бұрын
@@TEAMCREAM_96 the PCB board _IS_ an "insulator", both electrically and thermal too! Try soldering connector fittings on the ends of really heavy coax for amateur radio towers. The dielectric insulation core can be as thick as a hotdog around the wire and take 4 minutes for one solder joint to heat up, even with a soldering torch!
