But what if the Y is already isolated? Like in the sense that there's no number infront of It already. My equation is 'y + 4x < 11' and I'm not too sure what to do with the y.

you do -4x on the other side so u isolate the y

In the video he divides the other numbers by 7 and swaps the sign to get Y by itself, in this case you can skip that part.
