What a wonderful demo by Jeff Watts. At first viewing, the shadow shapes looked chaotic, but if you have an understanding of the back anatomy, everything made sense: deltoids, triceps, trapezius, lats, infraspinatus, Teres minor/major, and other muscles. Sage advice: Graphite is a limited medium and you have to cheat to create a semblance of reality. Ink is more limited and a great way to level up your drawing and painting skills. Do master studies of Franklin Booth, Virgil Finlay, Al Williamson, Wally Wood, Alfredo Alcala, and Berni Wrightson. You can find high resolution images. If you don't have experience with pen & ink, I highly, highly recommend Alphonso Dunn's PEN & INK WORKBOOK and his PEN & INK GUIDEBOOK. Do the exercises and especially the last 30 practice drawings and you will level up your skills.

I’m already a professional working in animation as a character designer. Ive gleaned what knowledge I could from life drawing (which are largely untaught in the uk) and books. But in the uk there aren’t or wasn’t really anything like the ateliers watts runs, and unis don’t really even teach fundamentals. So I’m largely self taught. the best I think is to just study when I can and am not to bogged down with to much work? It’d be interesting to hear Jeff’s and Stan’s opinion on someone in my position, where you don’t have the same amount of time as would a younger student but maybe have a few gaps in knowledge on certain things.

Its skill, not talent, and hes building an amazing art education company, he draws and paints for fun and for lessons. The artists he has for these demos are the best of the best, appreciate the knowledge that these artists have, its amazing.

@@breezyart3452 ofc, i don't denying that. I'm skilled artist too, i have many hours spent on skill, and i can see repetition. He knows what people like, what's he is best at, and he is doing over and over. I saw his video when he painted landscape , and i was blown away, his potential is huge! This is friendly critique, with good intentions. Teachers need feedback too ;) and ego in art is bad for one artist. I might sound like a dush, but i really like proko, i folow his work for years, and i also won 3 place in one of his challenges. So with peace and love :)
