A spotter working in blind conditions was struck by a grapple. Confirm spotters are in the clear before throwing a grapple.

I don't know why, but I go bonkers for the early '90s format of having a still frame photo of the narrator cut and paste on top of a piece of machinery that's related to what he's about to talk about in the video. It's so cool, makes me feel like I'm back in the 7th grade again haha

Everyone always claims, “Safety First”. It’s a BS term when, “Productivity” is actually the paramount term. “A greenhorn with concerns” so to speak; is easily replaced when the fines aren’t appropriate to the agencies that employ them. OSHA is a joke when when a $50,000 fine is laughable considering the massive amounts of profit to be made in are in the millions and considered simply as a cost of doing business. If the oversight actually wants to play ball with safety. Take even maybe 5% of the companies profit and watch things change.

Why do they need a spotter at all if they're just going to swing the thing into the abyss?

Why do we not find a profusion of such videos from USA government agencies, industry associations, equipment manufacturers, trade unions, insurance companies & such? Thank you WorkSafeBC for posting these where we in the States can view! I've been working around heavy machinery in the USA for over 40 years, and have viewed less than two hours of safety training video on-the-job in that period!

Canada has the last of the big logs. They require big machines and big trucks to haul them.

Excluding rainforest logging, They have some huge trees also. Unfortunately, we only see them on log trucks.

Thanks for posting. It will not bring back this poor fellow. Hopefully will educate people on safer ways to work. I was watching one of Worksafe youtube reports on a young man who lost his life pulling rain gutter up to roof. It hit a high voltage line. 4 or 5 months later I read in Paper of another young man in Vancouver killed in exactley the same way. Worksafe has to advertise there youtube reports better. The more people reading the more the word getting out

Yeah this seems so outdated. They cant just tow them back with a SxS? Seems just as inefficient but much less dangerous and costly
@bobbygetsbanned6049

@@benjamins9121 SxS are toys, not tools lmao. You can't replace heavy machinery with a friggin toy. These machines haul logs weighing probably 20x the weight of a SxS over stumps, rocks, other logs, up steep grades, and everything else. A SxS couldn't even get it's self to the log much less tow one out.
