With hydrostatic pressure is not calculated water weight on the support. Are you calculated force reaction on the support? Thanks for your reply
@graspengineering92493 жыл бұрын
We followed the ASME load combination in which Hydrostatic pressure (Ps) is calculated as , rho,g,h, etc. You can add water weight in dead weight case not in pressure case.

Hi! The dead weight for an elastic plastic analysis is a factored acceleration value?
@graspengineering92493 жыл бұрын
Please refer table 5.5 for load combination of elastic plastic. Load factors are applied to the summation of load cases. Such as factor load * (P+Ps+D).
@drury2d83 жыл бұрын
@@graspengineering9249 I do know the load combinations, but dead weight depends on the value of 'g' and mass, right? The software requires the value of g but not mass. How would the dead weight be factored? 2.4*D, where D = 2.4*g = 23.52 m/s^2?
@graspengineering92493 жыл бұрын
Dead Weight is considered by applying self gravity or 1 g acceleration and if you have load factor of 2.5*g then apply acceleration load as mentioned by you (2.4*g). Make sure your reaction should match the applied load.

Greetings! Thanx for uploading the requested video. can we model the pressure vessel in 2 ways 1. considering cylinder , end cap , pads and support legs as shell elements and modeling( FE modeling ) nozzles as 3D elements hex or tetra. 2. Modeling the whole vessel as tetra elements. I understand as in case 1 , we can simulate the prediction for the total deformations for corresponding loading cases . In case 2 we can predict all the behaviour as in case 1 in addition to the membrane and bending behaviour stress across the thickness , so by maintaining solid mesh at least 3 elements across the thickness we can capture the stress behaviour more properly. is this the case u have chosen tetra mesh to capture the stress across the end cap thickness ? while in case 1 we can extract mid surface and consider all parts to be shell expect nozzle, by doing so we can not maintain 3 elements across the thickness as the geometry will be surface body. so you have done solid mesh and you recommend us to maintain minimum 3 elements across the thickness to capture stress more accurately across the thickness. is my understanding right.? yes as per calculation part i will try to validate and get back to you but please can you help me clarifying the preliminary part in FE modeling. Thank you in Anticipation

Thank for the detail view of video. Regarding first approach, you can do shell mesh for shell, saddle while solid mesh for lifting lugs, but you can do solid mesh of some part of shell nearby lifting lugs, this is due to avoid solid shell contact at the junction of lugs with shell. Regarding second approach, if you are doing this work for clients or for validation it will be good if you can follow minimum three elements approach either with tetra or solid elements. I had used coarse mesh just to showchase the methodology.. You can even do stress linearization(membrane, bending stress extraction) with shell mesh too. The approach is different here, I will create one more video for that...

How and where did you add the fixed support ?
@graspengineering92494 жыл бұрын
You should add at the fixing location. In present video, constraints are at bottom of the saddle.

Hello Sir thanks for providing such informative tutorials but I can not find design video which you are talking about and referring to watch
Can we use guidelines from Sec VIII DIV. 2 to the vessel designed by Div. 1 ?
@graspengineering92495 жыл бұрын
Yes, for analysis only div.2 have design by analysis approach. So you can use the same for div.1 vessel.

As always very good and informative video...👍 However there is a statement of compensating pressure and pressure thrust that confusing in this video. In the video you apply a compensating pressure but then you mentioned it as pressure thrust. It supposed that compensating pressure is not equal to the term of pressure thrust. Pressure thrust normally acting in axial direction meanwhile compensating pressure is apply on surface area..
@graspengineering92496 жыл бұрын
Hello, Thanks! Both compensating pressure is applied to compensate the effect of internal pressure at the openings hence it is also called as thrust pressure. In present scenario both are same.

Hii , Can we do elasto plastic limit load calculation in ANSYS or ABAQUS? Any help regarding this will be very helpful to me.. I am waiting your reply.
@graspengineering92496 жыл бұрын
Yes.. For limit load analysis you will need elastic perfectly plastic with special Yeil strength material model and small displacement theory. For elastic plastic, you will need elastic plastic with specified stress strain curve and effect of nonlinear geometry on.
@subratsenapati77526 жыл бұрын
I am doing a 2D crack analysis. So as load label increases the plastic spread grows. I am confused which load i have to choose as limit load. And i am using ramberg ossgood material model. Because i have to consider the hardening effect of the material.

Hi, thanks for uploading this videos...they are very informative. I have one query...for test case code give guideline about Primary Stress...Pm..and silent about local stress Pl...SCL which you take are in the region of localized stress region...how we can category it into Pm...and apply allowable limit of it..it shall be Pl.. But for which for test case there is no guidlines...please clarify my doubt. Thank
@graspengineering92493 жыл бұрын
Welcome ! As per code, in case of test case, you should consider Pm, Pm+Pb & Pm+Pb+Q. So, whenever you will extract SCL at discontinuity region, you should consider as Pm+Pb not Pl.
