This is delightful! Ando-style piano comping isn't the easiest thing to get right, but I think you nailed it - as well as the Epic Yarn sound as a whole. The live bass is a great touch! It reminds me of how one of the first things I did when I got my ukulele and melodica was to do a quick cover of the song - the mixing's a bit off because I wasn't on my usual setup when I recorded this, but it was fun to play Kirby music on the same instruments used in the actual soundtrack. I’m not brave enough to record anything live haha, the bass I used is sampled but I tried to make it as dynamic as Ando would have. Epic Yarn is one of my favorite games of all time, and I feel like I never see enough appreciation for it. This cover was such a joy to randomly stumble upon like this. This would fit into the Dream Land section of the game perfectly

The intro almost reminds me of the Green Greens from Kirby’s Dream Buffet. Grass Land 1 is one of my favourite first level themes and with this as a ‘piano’ arrangement makes it as relaxing as the Treat Land or Snow Land themes

glad you asked! Comping refers to how someone plays chords on an instrument like guitar or piano, usually improvised and with added rhythm. Ando-style comping is just a made up term that doesn’t have a concrete definition, but we’re referring to Hirokazu Ando’s complex and intricate piano playing that’s pretty hard to replicate. If you want a better picture of what I’m getting at, I’d say listen to Grape Garden from Kirby’s Return to Dream Land or Silver Snow Story from Triple Deluxe, those are some good examples of what I was trying to do here
