Its typical for a frog to wait a few minutes, and move around in the snakes stomach, to cause it to gag, so that it can climb out. But if swallowed head first, its impossible to escape.

I saw a frog that couldn't be swallowed by the grass snake the first time and came out of its mouth almost entirely. And the frog's expression didn't change. It just opened its eyes again. Only on the second try was the snake able to swallow the frog.

The frog is not at all calm. He’s actually stressed and in a panic hence the sound he’s making. He was actually trying to get away before his other leg was swallowed. Not calm at all.

If grass snakes are anything like Garter Snakes the snakes saliva contains a mild toxin that stuns the prey. Even though the snake partially let the one legs go a bit to work on getting the other one the damage was done after the snake worked its teeth in after the initial strike. Even if the frog managed to get away it would be impaired and the snake would likely catch it again.

A frog probably dies in the same way as the prey it devours itself. By suffocating! But a frog won't choke until it's been swallowed whole. I've seen a frog get free after it's almost completely in the snake's mouth. And it seemed unharmed afterwards.
