GRASSMEN TV - Valtra 234 Impressions - Barry Read

In 2015 we took delivery of a new Valtra and decided to spice it up a bit GRASSMEN style. Well we took this to various contractors in Ireland, one of which was Barry Read, already a keen Valtra man. Could the new 234 convince him to upgrade his 213? Featuring footage from 2015 and a catchup filmed in April 2017 to find out his long term verdict on the machine.

I test drove a Valtra about 10 yrs ago and was impressed, but stuck with my Kioti due to dealer. And sure enough the Valtra dealer folded and I have several dealers for the Kioti including my original dealer

from what i see, the white with the strip and even the black one, they seems very big, bug have lack of 2 main things, first is the ride in the road seems very hard to the operator, and the second is the controls, seems simple, but i look to the console and i miss a lot of things we can find in other tractors from that power range

They were subsoiling. So they used this machine to break up compaction in the soil.

Yes that's the goal. The roots of the grass can´t grow as good through compacted soil as through "normal dense" soil. So they work the soil to break compaction up. Sorry for my English, i´m not native speaker.

We had a valtra a93 and an a95. Both were on mitas tyres. However the a95 had the AC 70 T tyres (520/70r34) and the a93 had AC 65 tyres (540/65r34). The difference was that the AC 70 T's had the largest lug on the market and the space between them is greater than that on the AC 65's. This meant that in the field the a95 could out pull the a93 every time. I have no faith in the AC65 tyres but the AC 70's are a fantastic tyre.

AgriSpec we have a 95 and it'll out pull our 92 any day, just much gustier engine!

Fair enough. I thought the 92 had the same 4.4 litre engine as the 95. I know our a93 had a 3 cylinder. It was an awful engine in terms of torque but was actually more powerful than the 95, especially on PTO work. Personally I think it was the tyres for us that made the difference as the a95 has never let the wheels spin but the a93 always would just sit spinning at the mention of a hill.

AgriSpec they're meant to have the same engine but its how they tweak them to meet the emissions which makes the difference. tyres do have a significant effect though, I've noticed how worn ones always start slipping when the new ones keep going
