get one with the automatic. a 6 speed manual on a pick up you are gonna shift yourself silly. have run mine for 2 years. only problem is a not so good defroster and the battery had to be replaced. other then that its a great little thai truck :D but here they have max 3,1 tonne pull capacity. strange.

They're a pile of plop! My mate has one - bought 2nd hand admittedly - but with only 30 something thousand miles on her. Not long after purchase and still in the 30's the engine seized on it. Got a new motor put in on warranty by Mitsi. Now - that new engine has blown the head gasket. Toyota is way better than these..

No buddy. Toyotas WERE really reliable years ago but not so much now. These tritons are much more reliable and capable than the Hilux. The 2.8 l Hilux has had major dpf issues since it's release and Toyota hasn't fixed the issue to date. The triton is the only vehicle around with no major mechanical problems. Your friends triton must have been defective or something. Cheers
