This and the day before were make-ups for shows originally scheduled 11/30 & 12/1/78, cancelled due to Jerry's bronchitis. And when the Dead play a make-up show, they REALLY make it up (compare 8/6/74, for instance).

We were at these 2 nights at MSG, and were so upset at such a large indoor venue!😱We were used to small theaters and college gyms🔊🎸🎶🎵 They were so good, but we had no idea that Keith and Donna would be gone in a month .. Thanks, Elaine, for sharing this memory!👍🕺💃🏖🌞☮️⚘️

We went to these 2 MSG shows, as well as the 2 following shows out at the Nassau Coliseum.....all were make up shows from November '78 when Jerry lost his voice. We were used to seeing them at much smaller venues...the Beacon, The Palladium, Capitol Theatre in Passaic. This was the first time (of many, many) they played Madison Square Garden.

Wow I am so happy to hear this show. Went both nights, and the place was just huge, with a bit of a bouncy feeling to it. It would become a favorite venue. Elaine, a huge thank you for bringing us this show. Can’t say enough great things about how awesome this aud sounds. The ticket price was $9.50 !! We used to buy concert tickets at a little ticket window on the second floor of a department store (Boscov's in Pennsylvania) They had a binder with the seating charts of the venues. Back when customer service was for real. And you could smoke cigarettes while strolling thru the shopping mall. And the Listening Booth record store had a big glass display case in the front of the store full of bongs, bowls and papers. 1979.
