I can’t imagine the GD playing at Winterland a day before Christmas Eve…That’s one of the strangest versions of Deep Elum Blues…I guess this is one of the earlier incarnations of the song compared to later versions a little slower with a different feel…very cool…I don’t think I’ve ever heard this tape!! @@DavidR-b2s Hey thanks! I can relate. What a huge relief it is to have Christmas behind us. … there’s something really special about the last week of the year. The time leading up to new years. But yes, very glad to have the holiday nonsense over. Huge relief! 🔥🌶️🌳🐈🇺🇸 I joined planet earth in the year 1992. Missed all the dead shows. Grateful for these recordings. No music does it quite like this. It’s just great. Until about 1980 that is… haha. Then the crowds got way too large and it just seems to me they were up there making music for reasons different than they did in the first 15 years. The crowd was also there for reasons other than, the music 🎵

Bear was incarcerated near San Luis Obispo from July 70 until summer 72. The Euphoria, San Rafael 7/16/70 show (where Janis sits in on Lovelight) was his going-away party.
