A few of my friends continued on after Alpine to this show, Ohio and another Michigan show after that. I couldn’t swing it. But the reports were interesting, Grand Rapids was a very conservative and religious town, the hometown of Gerald Ford, and the Gerald Ford museum. The venue held about 4000, and from what I understand was only half full. Those were the days. Apparently the townsfolk were deeply offended when a naked hippie bathed in the town fountain.

Got stuck in GR airport…TSA was cool they let me leave the terminal to smoke cigarettes until they were all ready to go home. A 5 PM departure ended up being 3 AM. Up until 10 they let me wander…

It says Grand Center but I think the actual show was in Welsh Auditorium which is part of the Grand Center Complex. A very small venue indeed. Grand Rapids Michigan aka Christian Reform Capitol of the State maybe the 🌎 and home of ScAmWay the only legalized pyramid scheme in America. We used to be known as Furniture City USA but now it’s referred to Beer City USA because of the down turn in the furniture industry and industry in general we used to have 6 or 7 Generous Motors factories within a 20mile or so radius of the city, I think we’re down to 2 maybe 3. I was 13yrs old and just going into 8th grade. I imagine that the area was freakin out because of influx of the Damn Dirty Hippies 😂 I wasn’t at the show but saw my 1st concert there in fall of 81’ it was Ozzy Osborne and Def Lepard opened for them. By 87’ or 88’ we had a helluva big Dead Head contingent here it peaked around 93’ but there’s still a bunch of us here and keeping the “ Faith” ❤️⚡️💙💀 ☮️

@@RicoSuave8yes sir, not much in Ionia but the prison and farmers. I/we used to see the young Billy Strings picking his guitar on the streets downtown GR outside of VanAndel arena and during the “Festival” , Fred and I just saw Billy Strings dad Terry play an acoustic set in Lansing at a Rock The Vote funktion it was Sweet!
