Jerry is fully present, cognizant of every tickle of the twine. A purely Proustian example of big ole Bertha. Jerry and the boys can come back around here anytime they want. RIP J. RIP Brent. One of the unsung talents of the 80s. A full-fledged virtuoso tripping over the ivory with the precision of a sportsman’s knife, and the joyous chatter of a thousand drops of rain. Play on my friends. Life is short, but boy oh boy can it be sweet as syrup when the Dead come on!

Jerry looks so lively and happy here. The interaction between Jerry and Bobby is reminiscent of the early 80's when he was still engaging the entire band from the left side of the stage. The solo is completely on point.

It was during the time his tiger was being worked on I love sound of the wolf I study his solos and I have believe that this was one of his best on Bertha and the whole show he lights the wolf up like he missed it

I saw every show from the Summer of '89 until Europe. They really started catching fire late in '89 and into 91. Those years were a really strong time for some great shows and tight playing. So glad to have seen over 300 shows and for stuff like this that is so accessible now a days. There is a lot of wonderful pro shot Dead out there, I hope more of it becomes available. Thanks for posting this!!!

A Friend of the Devil Love the dead they let me spin round and round and make me float. Maybe I better take another toke :) sit in my chair,close my eyes sing-a-long and smile. Whether it's shouting it out to,Fire on the Mountain or singing,you know you got such dark eyes Woooo.... Shaking it up with Sugaree and asking her to please forget she knew my name or telling Bertha Don't you come around here any more. I could always get a little dizzy spinning round and round with the girl that has rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes... I knew right away she was not like the other girls. Or go Trucking with the do-dah-man what a long strange trip it's been... become the Ripple singing let there be songs to fill the air. Feeling so free,flying with the birds singing their songs...tell me all that you know. Hiding out in a rock and roll band with Uncle Sam wave that flag...we're all confused,what to do. It Must Have Been the Roses got me so fallen in love... all I know is I could not leave her there. Feeling all melancholy Standing on the Moon watching the battle rage below. I watch it roll by, feeling the pain. So sometimes I feel like just Throwing Stones and singing ashes,ashes we all fall down or maybe go strutting with Cosmic Charlie... he's smooth as silk. But where ever I walk with Jerry and the boys I know they will ease my soul because there are So Many Roads. RIP Jerry... Written by Hashman

That was about the most interaction I have seen between Garcia and Weir in years especially smiling like that. Great to see the fun they were having. Usually it was Brent that would always bring a smile to Jerry's face.

@TIMOTHYSAARINEN Are you kidding me? The Dead brought so much magic with them to each show. Nothing was ever the same. They changed so many people's lives. How could you say there overrated when there barley even on the radio. Trust me, if you really start listening to all of there stuff from 1965-1995 you will not say there boring or overrated at all.

@wireguy73 I agree, my first show's were in the late 80's (Alpine Valley). It was tough watching Jerry deteriorate into the mid 90's. Those last show's in Chicago were tough. Missing chords, lyrics, and repeating versus.... Strung out....

it's about a large fan that was in the GD office and as it oscillated, it often blew the drugs off the mirror.....
@rjmoney98 жыл бұрын
this is a joke, right?
@robinwembley25786 жыл бұрын
Brian Lazarus; RJ Money The bit about blowing the drugs off the mirror may be intended as a joke but according to 'The Stories behind every Grateful Dead Song', "Bertha is a big electric fan we used to have in the upstairs office" Garcia told Charles Reich and Jan Wenner in 1971. . . . " and if you left it for a minute, it would crash into the wall and chew a big piece out of it."

I'm not sure what about this is "Pro-Shot", but it's certainly not the sound. I'm a huge Dead fan of many years, I also own this complete show on an old set of tapes, everybody knows what those are, right? Anyway, the sound quality of this "video is HORRIBLE compared to the tapes, TAPES, T-A-P-E-S!! During the solo the band is even EQ'd DOWN in the mix. WHY?!? Why would anyone do that? Never "adjust" the EQ of a Dead show, EVER, unless you're "Dave, Dick, Dan, Bear or Betty"
