I loved how Jerry and Brent interacted. You could see Jerry encouraging him to step out and go for it. I recall many old heads not being huge fans when a Brent song came up. Personally, I always loved his songs, especially Blow Away.

Brent is the one of the main reasons I listen to Dead shows after 79,...I guess besides the fact it was really the only music I had to listen to besides other dead projects, Brass and a lil Steely Dan. As a responsible adult now (lol) I have slightly diversified... slightly

Love Brent. Sadly Bill and Mickey were pretty awful in this performance. Jerry missed a few notes, but corrected awesomely. Phil was solid af, and Bob always seemed disinterested in Brent successes. Love this band. This era was the best, and Brent always gave 1000%

I love this man too. I can't believe this video is from 23 years ago, seems like just 5 or so years ago and I remember him going off that day clear as that camera! Was up with my parents at my aunt's place on a lake (cut off from outside communication) the week Brent left us. My Dad had driven to town or something, I was sitting out on the pld wooden dock and he said, "one of the guys from that band you like died." and he knew no more.

I have been so hardheaded in my years following the band: Pig can't be topped. I could never get into the processed sound of Brent's keyboards; we used to call it "sparklies." I keep coming back to this performance maybe for the 1,000th time because of the connectedness of the band, the soul of Brent. It blows me away.

I was there 23 years ago. This song absolutely stands out from that show for me. I remember it being a very Philly rock-n-roll "post In the Dark" crowd. There was some jeering at the Deadheads who were dancing in the first set. It was a little uncomfortable until this song. Blow Away just ripped through the bullshit and by the end the whole atmosphere of the concert changed. Second set was standard excellence. This is the ultimate version of this song.

This show in it's entirety was so incredible and definitely one of the best Grateful Dead shows of all time. It was the last show ever at JFK Stadium and my last show in my hometown of Philadelphia. If you haven't seen it yet, "Crimson White & Indigo" CD/DVD is this amazing show in it's entirety. Brent's energy here is quite simply amazing. I often come back to this video whenever i am feeling down and it definitely helps !!

The joy on Jerry's face after Brent joined the band was all you need to know about what he meant to the Dead. Why no one covers these songs is wrong. I didn't see pig, but when Brendt joined it was like Jerry came out of a fog and found a new love for the Dead's songs.

I was there, exactly 23 years ago today. Yes, it does seem like a lifetime ago. It was the last event ever held at JFK stadium. There was so some question if the concert was going to be played because of all the structural damage in the stadium. Fearing a riot the show was cancelled, the show went on! It was a blazing hot day. Great memories of a time we will never see again.

His rap from around 6:25 onward, well it reminds me of when JerBear and the boys would just stick it up behind Pig Pen and let him wail his vocal rap for like, foreverrrrrrr and a day on Lovelight or what have you. Besides, you can see Jerbear dancing and smiling his approval at his kinsman. This just blows me away..Brent Baby!
