I loved how Jerry and Brent interacted. You could see Jerry encouraging him to step out and go for it. I recall many old heads not being huge fans when a Brent song came up. Personally, I always loved his songs, especially Blow Away.

I love this man too. I can't believe this video is from 23 years ago, seems like just 5 or so years ago and I remember him going off that day clear as that camera! Was up with my parents at my aunt's place on a lake (cut off from outside communication) the week Brent left us. My Dad had driven to town or something, I was sitting out on the pld wooden dock and he said, "one of the guys from that band you like died." and he knew no more.

I have been so hardheaded in my years following the band: Pig can't be topped. I could never get into the processed sound of Brent's keyboards; we used to call it "sparklies." I keep coming back to this performance maybe for the 1,000th time because of the connectedness of the band, the soul of Brent. It blows me away.

I was there 23 years ago. This song absolutely stands out from that show for me. I remember it being a very Philly rock-n-roll "post In the Dark" crowd. There was some jeering at the Deadheads who were dancing in the first set. It was a little uncomfortable until this song. Blow Away just ripped through the bullshit and by the end the whole atmosphere of the concert changed. Second set was standard excellence. This is the ultimate version of this song.

This show in it's entirety was so incredible and definitely one of the best Grateful Dead shows of all time. It was the last show ever at JFK Stadium and my last show in my hometown of Philadelphia.
