Those two children dancing say everything you need to know about the Dead and their ability to transcend music into joy for anyone at any age. Just a joyous swirling mix of melodies and rhythm. Thank you for all your wonderful music.

Finally, I'd like to extend my thanks to friscobay01 for posting this. It really is at true example of the dead, and, along with the 8-27-72 Dark Star from Sunshine Daydream that somebody put up here, is one of my favorite videos on youtube. Well done for keeping the Dead alive!! (pun intended) oh, and by the way, I Know You Rider isn't their song... just kidding.

Heya. Close, actually the four chord progression that is in the middle section between China and Rider is typically called the Mind Left Body Jam. Apparently it's in reference to a Paul Kantner song (more in title than in tune). Agreed, the place was rockin' for sure. I particularly like the momentum around 6:29.

I know, i wasn't saying that it was any worse for being a cover. I was just saying that the song itself was not written. I love the dead's covers, and although in their entire body of work I would have to say I enjoy (for the most part) the songs that they write, luckily, we don't have to make that choice. I'm a bird song man myself, especially 6-22-73. And who could resist the classic 9-11-74 Eyes. And, in terms of China->Riders, I love the Without a Net version. Brent just rocks the keys...

guys, you misunderstand me. I was just noting that it's not their song. I'm a huge deadhead, although I'm too young to have seen them, I ahve a pretty impressive collection on my XHD, and would love to trade with anyone. Specifically, 72-74. But thats a different note. I'm sorry that you guys thought I was trying to be argumentative or whatever, but it was just an observation. I mean, look at NFA-GDRFB. Two covers, yet, as you said, they ended up owning it. btw, check out 6-10-73, with duane.

clintonstick: Isn't it funny! It's so amazingly easy to distinguish the intelligent people on KZbin from those whose mission if life it is to harass the rest of us. You don't even know who Jerry was. He was a great man; a man of substance. Worst of all, everyone can find out who you really are by Googling your name and finding your scathing KZbin comments. Jerry would not approve.
