poor bastards... bill walton is likely the reason venues now offer an 'obstructed view' discount... but then again, he must have been like the north star for fellow heads navigating their way back to their spot in the tie-dye camouflaged crowd. the sight of his landmark red afro from afar must have been a welcome sight for anyone trying to get back to their friends after a piss.. but it must have felt like a godsend to disoriented trippers, for whom a simple journey to the restroom and back could potentially unfold into an odyssey of homeric proportions... to those desperate lost souls, his silhouette must have shone like the sight of shore to a shipwrecked castaway.. i just gotta believe his attendance at shows has prevented countless trips from going south... i'd bet any money that he's had deadheads come up and thank him just for being alive/tall/in the crowd at a given show, for that very reason.... also, assuming you guys already knew bill walton was going to dead shows at the time.. it's kinda on you for not planning ahead... stilts (worn discreetly under very long pants), platform shoes (ideally 12" or above), or even the classic 2-man trench coat strategy (also effective for saving on ticket costs) could have easily remedied the situation...
