Who remembers the guy flying overhead in the ultralight overhead swinging his leg off the side to the music? Epic experience , still have the local newspaper, "100,000 Greet the Dead"

I seem to remember he flew over when they were playing 'Bird Song' on the second night. I'll have to dig up an audience tape of that to listen for the crowd roaring for it. SMH why they put 07.03.88 on the 30 Trips Around the Sun box set. Wish they will release an official copy of 07.02.88 but the etree sources and matrixes are pretty good.

yeah. i was there. the place went nuts and i don't think GD knew what was up, as the ultralight was approaching them from behind, flew into their view about halfway through the Birdsong. That pretty much brought set 1 to a hurried close.

2 of my favorite " back to backs " great energy both nights. It was hot, but the crowd was mellow. Highlites include a roar from the crowd during birdsong, Weir looking around puzzled " as an ultra lite glider buzzed the stage from behind with perfect " BIRD" song timming. Also a Morning Dew that was up with the best of 88' Thanx ~ D

I keep trying to find a recording with those Jack Straw Phil bombs! Rocked me to my soul, but have been completely unable to find a recording that hasn''t mixed them ouit. Any suggestions as to where to find one? It was my birthday and I was so thrilled to have Phil shake the ground under my feet. Would love to feel that again!

Standing stage right..... about 30 feet back. Anyone remember the kid trying to sneak in and getting the cuff of his pants stuck in the speedway fence. Everyone was pullin' for him, but he didn't make it.

I remember someone trying that at the end of the night. I was stage right, extreme right, where there was room to dance. i remember seeing Bobby coming flying into view during the last jam in this song, and the massive Phil Bombs, which may have been the Sound Guy, Healey, doing it. WHat a weekend, what a time...the best GD trip I ever took.
