Never been a Grateful Dead fan. Nothing wrong with them. Just not my thing. But I am a huge Beatles fan. I do feel if any band was gonna cover the Beatles songs from their later years. It should be the Grateful Dead. Along with the Beatles i feel they define that era

I love the dude but it was hard watching him destroy himself. It was obvious he gave up after Brent died. I used to go to all their summer shows in the Midwest & anything in Illinois Wisconsin Michigan Indiana & Ohio in fall winter or spring and his decline every year it was obvious for everyone to see. They were legitimately one of the greatest bands on earth in the late 70s & by the mid 80s were somewhat of a joke. I’m glad he got his sh*t together for a brief period in the late 80s but even then he was a shell of his former self. With Jerry’s head in the clouds Bob Weir took over and started having them play all those horrible songs he was convinced made him into a rock god. They used to fight on stage over playing them which is why they sounded so horrible some times -Phil and/or Jerry would start to play something completely different to Bobby until someone gave up.

i was Therefore for this in taper section with my brother Mike z.from Worcester. the guy who was doing the taping brought his younger brother who was drunk and whatever else with us to the show...we were in our seats on the far side of the row toward the other end of the aisle which leads either to the stage or upward towards the doors to go out..anyway this kid, being in the state he was in, charges through everyone's expensive taping gear, microphones, wires,etc he goes in from the oppositesidefromwherewewere at so he basically fucked up everyone's setup ..peoplewere pissed and it was the breakout of Lucy in the sky...was anyone there for that or rememberedwhat I'm saying...great show though.

you got no clue but that cool...overrated yet probably played to more people than any other music artist ever...they weren't for everyone, and yeah you had to be patient and sometimes, it wasn't great. But more often than not, they were the best dance band in any town they were in...everyone was thrilled to be there and they never faked it, they always went out there and gave what they had....and when they were on, it was like nothing i ever saw in music....see Days Between, a song most wouldnt even listen to, yet it was a showstopper.
