I'm from MS and this is a dead on depiction of the time I grew up. Great jam. History that will eventually be erased.

My first time watching this. BOY ! Would the boys (or wherever this vid came from) be ostracized for this. What has the world come to ? Has everyone lost their sense of humor ? Just sayin' That is unfortunately what came to mind. Thanks for listenin'. Crazy dayz. Carry on my brethren. I Love you ALL ❤

carl mccumber they weren’t illegal recorders they allowed open taping and trading not for profit. You could actually get taper tickets in the tapers section. They were years ahead of their time treating the music industry then as bands need to now because of the internet. The money is in consistent touring not recordings

I see tons of material saying “ Mr Charlie” was an African American pejorative referring to jerk/imperious white guys. That phrase is obviously no longer in use.

This song is about Charles Manson has nothing to do with Vietnam
@aintnotellin9784 жыл бұрын
Your right it has nothing to do with Vietnam but it has absolutely NOTHING to do with Manson either. Mr Charlie was what many Southern Delta blues artists and African Americans would call their boss or other rich, asshole, white dudes. Pigpen was a HUGE fan of the blues and that's where the name originates.

william green that’s true. I’m from The Delta. I’ve heard it used in reference to a lot of white men. It’s black privilege.

Holy Christ, this cartoon is racist AF. This song is about slave patrols in the Deep South. I’m not sure how I feel about this song juxtaposed against a minstrel show. This toon by itself is straight up the most racist image I’ve seen, and for it to be in the stuff I watched as a kid...SMH. Is the irony intent?
@silversurfer503 жыл бұрын
I think the cartoon tells the story pretty well. The song is about a slave owner that hires a Tom to hunt run away slaves . He does t want him to kill the slaves but just take a little skin. The Tom takes the silver dollar, but after drinking some wine realizes that he sold his people out. In the video, that’s when the character’s face turns into a lollipop sucker face. So he catches slaves and instead of shooting them, he gives them a little warning before he lets them go.

The most racist image you've ever seen? You haven't looked too hard. I recommend checking out antebellum newspaper articles And accompanying illustrations. Early 20th century product advertising. Hell, there's way worse cartoons than this. When I was a kid I remember thinking there was something very weird going on with the little rascals..there was. Scratch the surface, you're bound to get more offended than this.

I think you're just looking for attention. If you want positive attention Maybe you should learn how to play guitar real good.
