Legend has it that Jerry was out shooting his BB gun that he got for Christmas from Bobby. The shot ricocheted and hit him in the eye, breaking his glasses.

goodwi11 yeah it’s pretty wild but I think there are other shows he doesn’t have them. I always thought he was trying out contact lenses because of his new bride or semi new bride at the time. 89 through summer 90 definitely some of the grateful dead special shows ever.

firstube well first tube speaking up songs, I was addicted to that song in 1999. I remember both Portland and Hampton first nights 99’ did not enjoy, and then second nights had all the new goodies like first tube and sand I’m pretty sure. Love the second nights as much as I dislike the first nights, the first time I ever walked out of a show from that band unhappy was first night Portland 99. saw an old friend in the elevator and we said to each other bro was it just me or did that show it wasn’t that great was it? I mean Jennifer dances what was that, but that’s a different band and I digress. sorry I don’t know what that has to do with this absolutely incredible show from a completely different band. Yeah it’s a very strong crazy fingers, one of my favorites. The GD were on top of the world at this point. Yes there were some issues that were going to surface hard and cruel, but they were peaking in arguably their last peak through Brent passing late summer 90RIP. BM had become a true superstar. comparisons are ridiculous as pig pen and Brent are worlds apart in so many ways, but Brent maybe earned number one keyboard player of the GD with his playing in the last two years of his life. but I won’t include pig pen, as pig pen was more of a front man and blues singer, even though BM rock the blues. bottom line the only one I’ve ever seen play the organ like BM is John Medeski. anyway I love both Pig and BM; both are truly unique, and like no one else in rock ‘n’ roll. And that’s what makes both pig and Brent wonderful. and it’s not about anyone else being worse, it’s about both being great. as the years go by, seeing this amazing band play seems like centuries ago… sorry but if I get a time machine, it will be a very easy decision for me when it comes to the first stop. God bless the goddamn grateful dead!

I was at this show, you could tell Garcia had no glasses on from anywhere in the coliseum, it’s was almost an energetics thing , Ya I’m saying Garcia’s glasses had an energetic signature!

Really like how Phil sounds with that Ken Smith bass..he shoulda used it longer, his Modulus kinda became "his" sound, but this for me sounds better..now I think he's back to Alembic, if he is still active..? 83 and counting..wow, he's been around the rock n roll block a few times that's for sure..Loved my time in the 80's with the Dead..great times, memories I'll cherish..

Because apparently bob weir cant play althea unless he has them on. That and the close up facial expressions we'd all see--- nobody would ever work again or do anything again. Everyone would go to church to watch his eyebrows moving up and down. Its too early for that still. its a good thing he wore those glasses.
