I do quite abit because me & Jerry had something special that I know I never had that with any other man but I missed out on being with him because of big Steve scared me by telling me not to come to anymore shows that he wouldn’t let me in ! I tried in 1990 at Burlington & got pushed up against the stage & I was picked up & put in a hospital tent so I wasn’t to belong to this wonderful man for some unknown reason ! 🥲😢👽🪐👻❤️🐰🌹🐇

Like so many posting here, I was a child of the 80s, 87-95 were my years. Though my shows tapered off following fall '91. Summer '89 was the last year stadiums allowed the circus to camp at the venue. There was just something special happening then. A whole new generation of heads infused the scene with even more passion and fervor. There are certain smells and sounds that take me right back. Fond fond memories.

Two or three times a year my sister and I have what we call a Dead Party where beer is the drink, bbq is the food, summer is the weather, and Grateful Dead is the music. Always Grate, always loud, and always fantastic. Most of the time a two day party. Oh yeah some good whiskey too.

Whole Fall tour is legendary. Not because every show was well-played, but because of the vibe after the Hampton surprises. It was surreal at the time... of course, a few months later was Spring Tour 90, where every show WAS well-played. What a fucking great band.

Yes we r different from the east coast ! I’m from a island in Penobscot bay about 15 or so miles from the mainland ! Jerry came looking for me & ended up in Stonington Maine another island , that was the last time I was with him , I told this story before but some don’t believe me I guess but that was in 1988 in Portland Me. I agree bro... The music lost alot of clarity from 90-95 after Brent passed... became, for lack of better words, monochrome ... Brent added much texture and color to the fabric of the music in the 80's.. he is missed

Vince would have changed the Dead's sound into more of an Eno-like vibe if they'd lasted longer with him, and he did in Space and some other tunes. My friends and I were Vince fans during his early days with The Tubes, another fun band.

I think all the shows I caught were in 86-89, including most of the nine-show stretch they did at MSG. The robustness of the scene in 88 and 89 was something that truly holds the magic of it all, of the Grateful Dead, of Jerry Garcia... I still miss the strength of community those years held.

if Garcia was a live today hed be the master of electronic music in a big way this bird song and looks like rain would indicate. jack straw has some interesting high energy. whoa phil easy on the bass buddy hey pocky way that effect Garcia used legit sounded like a sax for a quarter minute and he pulled it off back in space now a trumpet synth now like draculas keyboard the sugar mag starts in a real cool way. this is great.

mark belek I know you made this post two years ago but I found it googling around for the burrito bago. It was run by my uncle until he passed away several years ago. I still have all the dancing pepper signs and menus from the bago. It brings a smile to my face to know people remember and miss the bago. I worked it a few times before he passed and they were great memories. Now excuse me while I put on one of his old dead albums and reminisce. Peace.

i attended over 100 shows from 73-95, and i agree with you on somethings. It's hard to pick a peak. They obviously LIKE to play. They didn't need the money,and I don't think people in their employment did either. GD payed very well. I think to them, it was just One More Sat. night. Just a job. We (deadheads) made it magical. Remember without fans, your just another bunch of friends sitting around, hanging out, jammin. I miss them very much. I may have lost my favorite band, but gained many more.

For me when Jerry died, everything lost nothing gained. My life is evolved around all only his music and shows. After July 1995 there is no other music I care about. Just Jerry's music by Jerry and the Dead and JGB. That's it and that's fine. Got on the bus in Dec 1995 and stayed on it.

I have to agree with your statement about Jerry - "I think he pretty much gave up on the dead after brent died", the reason being that in Jerry's and Phil's own words (through interviews and writings) they were just so burnt out after Brent passed that they needed time away; to grieve, to process what happened and THEN figure out what to do that kept everyone healthy, but unfortunately they had to "feed the beast" in Phil's words meaning keeping that money rolling in for those dependent on it.

Great show, featuring my two all time favorite Brent Mydland sung songs, his own epic masterwork "Blow Away" and The Meters' funk classic "Hey Pocky Way". 1989 was a high water mark for the Grateful Dead, right up there with 1969 and 1977... (in fact I much prefer it to 1977)

My first show was Nassau 1984 by 1987 I did not miss a show at msg Nassau or the Meadowlands or giant stadium they are some of my best memories and now 35 years later I am going to on tour in California and the whole west coast I some times feel like lou gehrig the luckiest man on the face of the earth after 35 years I still love to travel the country and hang out in parking lots and hear great music
