I was at this show. When Ace stepped up to start singing the first verse, his mic didn’t work, so Jerry stepped up with a fiery intro solo, & it set the tone for one of the greatest second sets I ever heard them play. I knew you’d love this version. Great choice & review. ✌️❤️🎶

@@freeherenow52 I was going to school in Des Moines & drove the 2 hours for the show. It was worth it. I remember thinking “They’re as tight as they were on Europe ‘72”, and was so happy when Dick’s Picks 18 came out. ✌️❤️🎶

Some context that maybe the suggester gave you: Bob Weir's mic here was having trouble at the start. Since he is the lead singer of this song, that led to a pretty awkward logjam the band got into. But Garcia decided that he was gonna fill that time with an insane shred session. Garcia was really the master of compensating for vocal flubs/issues with some real lightning from his guitar.

It's your channel Craig. You have every right to do as you wish. Don't feel bad for being you and doing what you want on your channel. I for one enjoy your reactions and every now and then will throw you a request. But not to the point you are doing one all the time. Thanks for this reaction. I had forgotten you had already done this song but upon rewatching that one, I wanted to stick with this version. Thanks again.

Because the Dead played so many versions of this over many, many years, there are PLENTY of blazing readings. I always turn to 1977 for some SURE FIRE...!!!

And I've always believed that the Scarlet-Fire that follows is also the best ever. Yes, better than 5-8-77, which is also pretty great. That would be a good choice for a future review.

Obviously it's your channel, and you can do whatever you want, but I think it's foolish to stop doing Dead reactions altogether. You should consider making one day a week Jerry day, or something like that. Anyway, it was great while it lasted. I'll check back in occasionally, but for now am unsubscribing.😢

@@PERKSreCAP We Deadheads are a demanding lot. 3-4 a day wouldn't be enough. That being said, besides the Dead you have at your disposal an extra 1k or so shows of Jerry in all his iterations. Jerry and Merl Saunders, Legion of Mary, Jerry Garcia Band(and it's multiple iterations) and several more. For example, the After Midnight>Eleanor Rigby>After Midnight from 80 I think. Only 6-8 times played. Arranged by John Kahn the bassist who Jerry liked the most outside of the Dead. Just a thought. Cheers. Thanks for keeping grate music alive.
