I have been using this as my first prayer of the day. Formerly I used the original video that has been viewed more than 1.6 million times. This prayer sets the meaning and goal of my day every day. Thank you so much dear Br. David Steindl-Rast for this gift to humanity from you. Your life is a blessing to the world. May you be blessed forever!

Sometimes I have to listen to Brother David's "Gratefulness" and Tim McGraw's "Humble and Kind," multiple times until the healing messages finally push out the chaos I get distracted with. Sometimes my emotional release doing so leads to tears and then calm. I guess that is gratefulness. "Then it can really be a good day."

Thank you so much for this beautiful lesson. It helps me to see the eternal beauty around me, especially in the so-called average day. There is so much in our world to wonder at in every eternal moment. We are here for but a moment in cosmic time, yet our relationship with the world we have can be eternal, changing its beauty each and every moment. What a beautiful human being you are to share this with us.

i love meditating on what it would be like on the first day and the last day of life - the wonder and trust of an infant and the wisdom and perspective of an old woman ... and as a person who can't talk or move much, the concept of being able to bless others "just by your presence" is immensely reassuring.

Each and every day is so precious; there is so much to be grateful for if we only look around and look inside and ourselves. To be able to be alive, to breath, to have a roof over our heads those of us that do, and if not we can work towards that. The biggest and most important blessing of all we have is the health. May everyone have a good day

Praise the Almighty God!. During my confession in my early high school days, I confided to the priest, "how do I know the presence of God?" He answered, "Look at the mountains..." I did not understand, so the question remained in my mind. This video toched me and tells me in so many ways the question that lingered in my mind for so long a time.. Even when while practising my Catholic faith! Thank you, Lord! Continue to nourish and nurture my faith🙏

I feel a need to learn real gratitude.... "...real thankfulness is a cordial giving of thanks from the heart. When man in response to the favors of God manifests susceptibilities of conscience, the heart is happy, the spirit is exhilarated. These spiritual susceptibilities are ideal thanksgiving." ~ Baha'i Faith

“Let the gratefulness flow into blessing all around you.” God comes to us disguised as our lives. Spend the day very well by this simple blessing of others. Our gratefulness, a sharing of the love of our creator hidden in plain sight. This is how we show Christ to others, how we see Christ in the other.

I love this video so much. His message is so simple and yet so profound. I grew up in the Catholic Church and pushed away from it because I did not see any sense of joy, happiness, contentment or love for others both in the church or in my household, which was deeply Catholic. There was a disconnect between the teachings and the way my parent's, priest and parish (the three p's!) approached life. I saw no gratitude or love for the self or for others -- quite the opposite. Someone sent me this video a month ago and it blew me away and I was surprised to see he's a Catholic monk. I'm grateful that he is. I keep thinking, 'Where was his message when I was growing up? Why don't all priests and nuns have his same deep sense of peaceful joy and gratitude for life?' Then I realize that I can't change that. I'm just grateful that I found him and can learn from him.
@akirahojo22 жыл бұрын
Patrick, a lot of Catholic parishes and priests have been compromised in their faith and practices through two millennia of schisms, political and spiritual turmoils. But there are still pockets of communities that hold on to the True Cross. May we both find our ways back, just as we found Brother David’s video on gratitude.
