GRAUPNER OPTIMIST (1978) FIRST SAIL IN 22 YRS

I built this Graupner Optimist yacht in 1979 and sailed it briefly before storing it until 1997 when I used it a couple of times to show my son. Stored it again for about 22 yrs, and have just finished repairing all the damage from the years of storage, re-building the rudder shaft, and fitting new 2.4 R/C gear. Still sails well but needs a few additions, such as a kicking strap for the jib boom and more sheet movement. Has an 18kg digital winch servo. Wasn't able to trim the sails properly as the battery was down on power for the winch, but the rudder still worked ok.
