My analysis: to me, the official wave formers looks like someone who doesn’t know how to do blow outs attempted to do a blow out on themselves with a hair dryer and round brush. It’s not worth $100 for a whole head of THAT. I like curls better personally but the non official wave formers look way way better

I build electrical cables. We use a material almost identical to this called Expando to cover and insulate cables. It will melt at high temperatures, and I must be careful when using a moderate heat heat gun on shrink tubing next to it not to melt a hole in this material. A hair dryer closer than a few inches can melt this onto your hair.

The point of "beachy waves" is for it to look natural, a little messy, like you've just come from the beach and your hair has dried after spending time in the salty water. If you already wake up with messy, tousled waves you don't need to use any product that gives you waves. It is a product for people with straight (or any not wavy) hair. The reason you like the fake wave curlers more, Bunny, is because they give you a loose crimp, hence why they give you 80s vibes and why you like them (you like crimps). The real wave formers do exactly what they are supposed to do, but maybe they could work a little better.

I think if you brushed it out, it would look better (on the other wave formers). And whilst the fake ones are generally nicer - that's crimping not waves XD The other side is a true wave, if it was brushed out. But yeah, in terms of visuals, the fake wave side is nicer, with how it's done... maybe the real ones would be better if brushed out, but for the price tag still wouldn't be worth it - you can get similar effects by plaiting your damp hair and that costs the price of hair ties.
