That's a direction Dyson have been doing of late. I guess they're running short on ideas. Seriously though, I hate most things about this product. As someone who's a trained audio engineer, I'm a bit fussy with headphones. I've got some bloody good audio and none of these things are crap like Bose or Beats etc. Funnily enough one of my go to headphones of late are some of the cheapest you can buy - Samsom SR850. A bit harsh but incredibly detailed. I seriously doubt that something that creates RF and audio noise is not going to affect these headphones in any way. I also think it's bloody stupid to have everything dependent on an app, as it gives the product a forced death.

There is an immense amount of market research and testing behind these products - put it quite simply people don’t want to wear a standalone air purifier device around their head, plus hearing the noise of it yourself as a user? Not a good experience and not very socially acceptable by today’s standards - it’s much easier to say “hey these are a pair of headphones that just happen to have an air purification add-on” and more people will purchase

I immediately thought of wearing this on an airplane/train, if you don't like how stuffy it can get. I would listen to podcasts/KZbin on a train/plane trip with these if I could afford them. They might be very comforting for someone who gets overwhelmed by lots of nearby humans, who may or may not have personal space issues lol.

If these work well, it will be a God send for those who live in pollen laden areas. Up in East TX the pine pollen gets so bad that everything turns yellow it left out doors. I'll tell you what, hearing you say,"when is it practical for you to wear those, I feel the same way about my platforms, all 70 pair of them. I live on a farm so I can only comfortably wear them when I go into town. And I live in a city that when I do wear my style (goth/hippie) I get very strange looks😳🧐😒 But I would totally incorporate that Dyson headwear into an everyday look!

This may be more of an out there use, but I actually think this would be wonderful for when I have panic attacks. Typically when that happens, one of the only things that helps me is sitting in front of a big box fan because of the air movement and noise. So this is like a portable version!

This new Dyson thing reminds me a lot of the Razer Zephyr mask (same idea kinda but no headphones!) but honestly these things give me mostly 'shiny new toy' vibes over actually being practical. You can just wear a normal fabric filter mask and probably get very similar results in terms of not breathing 'bad' air. That's just my take though, I don't know the science.

This product is confusing. It's an air purifier, but it's also noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones? It is such a weird combination, it's like they wanted to cover up the noise from the machine on the user end for those that don't like white noise, and thought, of course, headphones. They're not gonna be good headphones as Dyson has no history of audio equipment nor is this product meant to be good headphones, so even if they are noise-cancelling you will not get great enjoyment of your music. Then battery wise, of course it's gonna die quickly if it has to power the purifier, the fan, the audio and the Bluetooth connection. So there is zero real-life application for it, as none of the situations you mentioned would work if the thing stops working after 15 minutes unless you are plugged in. It takes away the whole purpose of having the portability of the air purifier in the first place. They should have simply focused on making a good portable air purifier if that's what they were going for, instead they made a bad product all around. EDIT: Not to mention it's absurdly overpriced.
