I knew a little about Bettie but I'm glad to hear the rest of her story. She had so many ups and downs in her life. Rough start but she was a good person. Thank God for Hugh Hefner. He was her guardian angel when she needed one the most. Such a beautiful woman. God bless her soul.

Very interesting to see her grave.. I was in the USA in 2008 and went to Pierce Brothers Westwood specifically to see Marilyn Monroe’s resting place. When I arrived, there was a service going on in the chapel. Being the inquisitive Australian I am, I decided to go over and stick my head in to see if it was anyone famous. Well, it was Bettie Page’s memorial service! The funeral directors at the door ushered me in, so I did. People were walking past the casket (it wasn’t open) and looking for seats. What I found interesting was all the Bettie Page lookalikes all dressed in black.. There were heaps of them.. I just stood at the back of the chapel and watched the service. I do have a photo of the casket, which I took just as the service finished. I was standing near the door when everyone started exiting and I instantly recognised Hugh Hefner when he looked at me and nodded his head at me when he walked out. Very memorable day for me.

Bettie! She really did become the Queen of the Pinups because of her brunette beauty and singular style. Back in the 80s when her revival came about, the Tennessean newspaper ( based in Nashville) did an article about her. Astonishing to learn that a legendary sex symbol was from a conservative Southern town. A couple of years ago, I saw a short tribute video to Bettie on You Tube. There was a photo of her in her later years with Hef. She had gained weight but still had the same smile, her hair was silvery gray but she kept her famous bangs. Thanks for telling her story Jordan☺💝🎆🌹

I’ve been a fan of Bettie Page since I was a teen. I’ve never seen anything like her. She was so open minded and innovative. Way ahead of her time. I wish the world would have paid more attention to her all those years ago because I feel like we’d be so much further along today. She was as smart and kind as she was beautiful.

Beautifully done again Jordan! I have to say it's also beautiful that Billy Graham helped her and gave her a job, he didn't hold her past against her and treated her like a real Christian should. The past is part of the testament that no matter what you've done, Jesus loves and accepts right where a person is at, the heart work is his job not the job of the judgemental ones.

I remember many years ago seeing a photo of Bettie with Pamela Anderson at a Playboy event and she looked really good! I would’ve never guessed she was in her 80s, she looked 30 years younger than her actual age.

I often wondered if perhaps she was a fitness guru late in her life. I mean she wasn't the sort who sat on a couch watching soaps, and eating bon bons all day. She had to have worked to keep her gorgeous trim figure for most of her life. She must have had that Jack Lalanne mentality, hating to miss a workout. She kept her life private, which I think everyone can understand, and mostly respected. Also, a lot of women with jet black hair didn't go gray. My mom was born less then ten years after her, and her jet black hair stayed that way. Bettie Page had no natural children, and that was a little factor on keeping that shapely figure of hers!

Bettie wasn’t the only model into fitness, they had fitness classes for women back then, and women who pursued a modeling career knew they had to watch what they eat and be fit. Of course the 1950s idea of “fit” would probably be considered plus size by today’s standards

They wanted flat stomachs and nice legs too "back then." Today the expectation is the models, men and women have 6 packs or at least some sort of definition of a worked out body and muscular legs. People like Bettie Page would still be considered beautiful though. But not Victoria's secret catalogue material. Which would be unfortunate. Plus I don't think she would be tall enough. They expect female models to be 5'10" at least. I sorta miss the days were you could be "sexy"like Bettie Page or Sophia Lauren (who I think is still beautiful) without being trashy looking (by today's standards).

Models were more feminine back then, imo. The ideal figure was slim but not too skinny. a lot of classic pinup models would be considered “flabby” today cause they don’t have a thigh gap, toned arms, a six pack, etc

I remember seeing an episode of "The Girls Next Door" and Hugh talked with Bettie on the phone while wearing a shirt with her picture all over it. I loved that he helped her out by featuring her in the magazine. I wonder if Allan Melvin had any idea who he was going to be buried next to once he died or if he specifically wanted to be placed by Bettie. I'm sure we'll never know.

Betty Page was a popular lady .. ah er.. tugs at collar.. melvin Allen was a very funny actor. She was a talented person very beautiful because of her workouts. "Camera CLub" .. she was popular as a subject artistic. FBI got involved over death threats by a kid. Becoming a Christian trying to advance herself as a person, then Billy Graham's secretary wow! Hugh Hephner tried to help her. Wow, Marilyn Monroe and Heph next to each other. She had a Really interesting life.. thanks Jordan!

I visited this cemetery about 6 years ago and took a picture of Page's grave. I also remember Don Knotts, Natalie Wood, and Robert Stack are buried there too. Such a beautiful cemetery of the stars.

Bettie was obviously a smart gal and way ahead of her time. She may not have had a "classic" model look, but her style was truly unique, nonetheless. What was considered risqué in the 50's and 60's is pretty tame by today's standards. Sad she was never compensated for the Bettie Page Bathing Suits. Thank you for sharing her story with us, Jordan.
