I cannot listen to Glen Campbell without thinking of my dear departed mom. She played his records over and over! I had the privilege of interviewing him for my paper in California in 1985! He was a genuinely nice guy. Bearded at the time too!

Great vlog and thanks for sharing. My favorite song from Glen is "rhinestone cowboy" and his role in True Grit one of fav movies of all time. Another fun fact that Glen did is in his life was he had part of getting Alan Jackson's first start. Back in the mid 80s he was boarding a plane and Alan's wife was working as a flight attendant at the time. She saw Glen and told him about her husband Alan country singer and he's been turned down almost every label. Glen gave her his business card and said give me call and surely you know it the rest is history for Alan.

Glen Campbell always gave credit to Tommy Smothers for giving him his big break, for giving him the opportunity to host his own television show (and called him the greatest producer he ever worked with) and for later actually GIVING him the show. I find it strange that when people today talk about all of Glen Campbell's success, they never even mention Tommy Smothers. That certainly wouldn't set right with Glen.
