Hmm. I wonder if the ending to that one implies that she enjoyed the thrill of graverobbing more than her previous life of luxury, and left behind the spoils of her looting, as if leaving her past life behind?
@DarkmegaGaming2 жыл бұрын
Sounds something like that for sure, or so I think.

Seems like it, though she still grouses periodically about her current circumstances as a vagabond adventurer. Probably expected graverobbing to be more profitable than it really was.
@dustinjones74582 жыл бұрын
Her last line in the select screen could be read as a double meaning. _"What use do the dead have for trinkets and baubles?"_ The dead don't need their valuables anymore. But neither does she, not really-no matter how much she steals, she'll never find herself 'alive' again, not able to return to the life she was accustomed to. No matter how much she steals. "I was a Lady once. Now, little more than a burglar." is her hopeless bark in the last game. Needless to say, I don't think she found much joy in either her current or previous lives.

Think before all that she simply yearned for a more exciting life, away from her dreadful husband. Still wound up after killing him, her graverobbing resurfaced that lost adventuring spirit but corrupted into the thrill of desecrating the dead.

I like the mouseover text for the buff she gets when looting the graves. The middle part of this. _"Glittering gold, Trinkets and Baubles, paid for in blood."_

Tbh, I wasn't finding DD2 interesting with the 3d models and animations and such things. But after I saw all that new cool features, the more deep relationship between characters and with the players, and seeing this interactive backstory, I'm so excited to see the full release of this masterpiece.
@theotv55222 жыл бұрын
To be honest the only thing I wish they didn't change was the dungeon system. From what little I've seen the linear carrage gameplay doesn't look like I have much of a choice in planning which path to take and it's even more RNG. Other than that everything else is an upgrade in my book.

Thanks for uploading, I wasn't sure about the characters being more individual at first. But the mechanics and the charismatic charm of each character has me convinced. I love that Grave Robber's early days was quite brief yet telling. She is born between immense privilege and abuse. Where her privilege of wealth and bloodline expected her to own nothing as long as she has a husband, and expected to take the abuse as an item of marriage. I love her moral greyness in all that, her selfishness and her dark thrills at grave robbing perfectly encapsulated in flavor text and dialogue.

@dustinjones74582 жыл бұрын
It's fucked up for sure. But then again so is the whole world. You want to know what's also fucked up? You can actually find a Graverobber only trinket in the game called 'his rings', presumably the ones she stole and then abandoned in her backstory. When she equips, it gives her a chance of paying back her next attack with extra damage everytime she's hurt. Consider her backstory, and let that sink in.

^ This. Her entire outfit, including the ponytail, look like upper class riding wear. You can also see she's wearing riding boots. I don't know if it's mentioned anywhere in the DD canon that she likes to ride horses, but I like to imagine that she did it to relieve stress and get away from her husband.

Hellion:my leadership sucks lol Plague doc:my teachers sucks lol Runaway:my trauma sucks lol Grave robber:my husband sucks lol You could argue plago and robbo are "FUCK MEN" stories if you try hard enough but hellion and runaway is reaching as fuck, with their trauma of losing everyone they care about because of their wrongdoings and moment of weakness Edit:WAIT AFTER LOOKING AT PLAGUE DOCTOR 4TH SHRINE IT'S FAR FROM A "FUCK MEN" STORY? Her overconfidence in restoring the dead traumatized the sick teacher(who's character can definitely be based on the ignorance of the church in other theories like Galileo's discovery, definitely not a "FUCK MEN" character) by being really unethical in her experiments. If this is sexist for you, you're easily triggered like an SJW, because the female characters stories fit in the game
@gurdemandboi30022 жыл бұрын
Did you pay any attention to the game? PD's Teacher wasn't interested in her "unconventional theories", but wasn't portrayed as evil, just stubborn. She is the one making a mistake by playing god. Runaway's story, it's a woman who puts the burn scars on her, and she herself is the one who burns her adoptive family to death. For Hellion, she is the one who wasn't strong enough to lead the group. The only one where the main bad guy is a man is GR, but even then, killing him was partly motivated by greed.
