Gravel Bike Riding on the Carrizo Plains National Monument

Gravel bike riding on the Carrizo Plains Natl. Monument offers quite a bit for the cyclist looking for something different than the typical Southern California riding experience. Open plains and wide roads, big skies, and a remote feeling permeates the 250,000 acres.
Bring a gravel bike or a fast MTB and check it out, but do so in the cooler parts of the year and bring everything you need as there are few to no facilities on The Plains.

Thanks for the video! I'll be riding there at the end of October. Any tire recommendations? Do you think I'd be okay on 32 gravel tires or should I opt for something wider?

I would suggest wider. I did it once on some 36s and that was OK, but just. The day of the vid I think it was 42s, but it might have been 40s. The main road through the area would be fine I think, maybe a but loose here and there, but the off shoot roads were the roughest and the sandiest. Enjoy! It is a unique area. But in the Spring??? Man, it can be amazing.
