Gravel driveway problems

Gravel driveway problems - This customer ran into some imperious issues with the township. They had a lot of crushed concrete ballast put down and covered a large area. Unfortunately a neighbor called the township on them and they had to removal the majority of it!

Mindboggling that someone made time to stick their nose behind a fence in a commercial/industrial zone and even more mindboggling that a municipality would have anything to say about it. From what I can see there were no fines in this material which make it even more porus than topsoil. This feels a lot like a Marvin Heemeyer-type circumstance.

Exactly. What was so impervious about that ground up cement? Would look better than all the weeds surrounding it, which is probably what will happen to all that new grass in about a year.

Yet the Township is perfectly happy with the overgrown jungle mess all around the lot 🤔 Also that wasnt compacted fine crushed stone it looked like 2" to 3" so there is no way that was holding water & preventing water penetrating. But it keeps thess City box ticker jobs-worth's employed I guess. Hopefully KAREN is really happy & pleased woth herself now.

In the township eyes if its going to be driven on then it's impervious. But I agree it's complete BS.

Because they need an excuse to charge for a permit and to fine the business so the township can waist the money on something stupid

@@srmcontracting That is funny because I once had to pave a small part on a job near a famous lake in a large left wing state and all they had to do was tear out some asphalt elsewhere and convert it to crushed gravel, with fines, to be driven and parked on, much less pervious than in your video

because if it is driven on over time it will compact the rock to the point where it eventually becomes impervious .

Nice job Sean. I suspect there is more to the story of what happened here with the bylaws people … but I am wondering, what the heck is with all the steel plates lying around on the yard? Pretty expensive paving…and impervious 😊

Probably blown in by someone else in the neighborhood that lost the same battle. There are options like permeable pavers, permeable pavement or storm chambers but none of it is cheap. What a shamw

Unfortunately I didn't have any jobs lined up for it to be used. However we did have several people that took it for free so at least we didn't have to pay to dump it

Wow it’s one thing to go back and forth on pervious/impervious… but to turn it into grass that is going to put more mower fuel and fertilizer into the waterways/atmosphere this is worse for the community.
